Re: Mathis Ghio crowned 2023 World Wingfoil Racing Champion

I agree Peter. Things are slowing down. The endless search for better materials for our sport is the next big thing. It’s horrible we pay double what a windsurf sail costs for wings that last one year max. While sails perform well for several years. Kites also perform longer than wings. Everyone is ...

Re: 2023 Duotone Slick Wing vs Slick D/Lab

Duotone dropped the v2, v3 naming. So it’s SLS 2022 Slick. It went out of production a year ago. Everything being sold is over stocked old stock. 2023 MOD3 Slick was released April 15 2023. 2024 MOD3 Slick releases around April 2024. 2024 Unit MOD3 released September 2023. 2025 model releases Septem...

Re: 2023 Duotone Slick Wing vs Slick D/Lab

Many people wrongly call the SLS a 2023 model. Lots of dealer web sites continue to call it a 2023. When the real 2023 Slick was released, some web sites corrected the SLS and renamed it a 2022. After a season on the 2023 Slick, I gave the 2024 Unit and Ventis a brief try. I found the handles to be ...

Re: 2023 Duotone Slick Wing vs Slick D/Lab

23 Unit flies heavy. The 23 Slick has improvements that make it fly lighter. The 24 Unit got some of the 23 Slick magic that helped it fly lighter. Basically, the newer design from the CAD of Ken Winner has the newest knowledge built in. So from September to April, the Unit would be the latest and g...

Re: Wing Foil in the Lightest Winds Possible With a Downwind Board

Hey Peter, I have experience on them. I shape boards. Retired from selling them, but still make them for my wife and I. I made a 23 x 6’2 to try for light wind winging and catching waves earlier as a SUP. Not as radical as something 7’6 x 19 because I knew that might be a step too far for me at age ...

Least Evil 2.5m

I think we can all agree the tiny wings need more work.

So if you’ve tried more than one brand in the 2.5 or 2m size, which ones were less evil?

I’ve tried a few brands. I have not been impressed with any 2.5s in the last 4 years.

Re: Wing punctures?

I believe Gong published a report saying bladder issues with wings are coming from wings being put away wet. With bladders being huge compared to kites, they get stressed/stretched easily when out of place, in the casing. Then compound the issue with non kiters, not taking good care of the wings. I ...

Re: Strapped balance point

I agree 100% Peter

Very few custom board orders ask for rear strap on center. 75% of orders now ask for offset rear.

Also…boards are trending wider. Narrow still preferred for tricks. Wider for easier all around.
