Puerto Morelos is a good, cheap, laid back town - halfway between Cancun and Playa. I saw more kiting there than in Playa. There's a school that operates out of Puerto Morelos as well. The reef is about 400 m offshore and there is a lot of diving out of PM as well.

Saw two sites near Gdasnk on Kitebeaches.com and it seems there is a shop near there. Anyone have any info on this or kitesurfing in the area? I'd like to try and rent a board while there instead of carting my board through multipile European airports while maybe racking up oversize baggage charges....
