Re: How To Self-Land a Kite in High Winds

this guy is lucky the kite was well behaved.. you could have the kite re-launch with both centerlines taunt... sorry but this is a poor example. Maybe it's just my kites but relaunch on the two front lines is hardly an issue. With my strutless 17 it's pretty much guaranteed anyway. You just walk up...

Re: best SUP for super light wind kiting

Assuming that the board will probably have enough volume to support your weight, a smaller kite will be easier to manage.
Something like a 3 strut freeride kite around the 7m size?

Re: best SUP for super light wind kiting

Apart from the SUP, the other thing to consider is that in super light winds, as per the original post title, keeping the kite in the air is an art, and relaunch can be a real pain.

Re: Cameron Maramenides #1 in the WORLD TTR CHAMPIONSHIP Brazil 2017

Well done, Cameron! And well done to the father too :-) As much as the kite tangling is undesirable from a competitor viewpoint, from a spectator viewpoint it's gold (am I a terrible person for saying this?) It's a bit like F1 racing. The pit stops, the crashes, the drama.. makes for entertaining vi...

Re: DIY split wave twinny

The old board (same size and layup) was 3.0 kg. The split board is 4.6 kg (deck + plate). The deck itself is 0.8kg heavier than my old board, this is due to the additional hardware as well as the grind base. The plate is 0.8 kg. I think I overdid the plate a bit, so I might drill some holes in it to...

Re: DIY split wave twinny

Last little bit was to trim the edges, clean up the holes and mount fins.

Below are closeups of the plate and the bottom, showing the concave and also the cutting line.

Re: DIY split wave twinny

The most nerve-wracking part of the process was next.. cutting the board in half! :o
I used a jig saw with a very fine blade, and cut about 2cm at a time, cooling the blade as I went.
Apart from taking a long time, it was disturbingly easy.
