Re: Corrosion on Aluminium parts (Moses fuselage)

Electrical isolation of the screws isn´t sufficient in this case. Even if you´d isolate the screw heads by e.g. plastic washers, there´s still the strong contact between the conical part of the mast (bare carbon) and the fuselage (the tuttle connection). With the µm-thin Al2O3-layer as the only isol...

Re: Corrosion on Aluminium parts (Moses fuselage)

Excellent, plummet. I studied electro chemistry and know a bit about electrochemical cells  The corrosion will always happen as soon as you bring Aluminium and carbon into electrically conductive contact and add an electrolyte (sea water). No crevice is neededf or this. However, a crevice - wh...

Re: Corrosion on Aluminium parts (Moses fuselage)

The raised white crust usually occurs above pitting and is a hydrated form of the alumina, itself quite insoluble in water and to an extent protective. But it wouldn't be there so soon if the anodization was done correctly. In the interim, consider getting in a habit of wiping all the aluminum with...

been riding Moses for over a year now. The white spots on the fuse you see after riding are usually grease spots that are originating from the screw connections. ...
Believe me, I´m quite able to distinguish grease spots from aluminium corrosion!

Re: Storm voyager vs other strutless

I´ve tried Cloud C1, LF Solo (first Edition), Storm Voyager II and North Mono 2016/2017. Apart from the Mono, all single or no-strut kites for me have the same downside: A lack of depower. As soon as the wind picks up just a bit for the respective kite size, they get quite a bit of a handful and are...

Re: Corrosion on Aluminium parts (Moses fuselage)

The mast connector to fuselage is bare carbon, thus my worry. That’s why super proper anodization is so important.
I don’t think any coating on the mast would help due to the friction while mounting.

Corrosion on Aluminium parts (Moses fuselage)

Hi all, after having ridden my Moses foil in North Sea water for less than 3 hours during its first use I´ve been irritated to see clear signs of corrosion on the fuselage. The shiny black (anodized) surface was covered with numerous elevated white spots of Al2O3 (alumina). These corrosion spots wer...

Re: Groove Skate

Hi all, I´ve waited for my Skate for almost 7 weeks... Michele seems to be quite overloaded. Finally it arrived and I was able to use it for the first time last weekend. BTW my first foiling session with the Skate and Onda 633 (first "own" session after a 1 h course with Gunnar at Flag Beach back in...

Re: Wash or not wash your kites

A German kite mag just published an article on kite fabric wear by wind flutter / sand / UV irradiation / salt crystals. Claimed Killer #1: UV (photo-chemical degradation of fabric) Claimed Killer #2: Sand (abrasion, particularly in packed kite) Claimed killer #3: wind / flutter (mechanical stress f...

Re: Kiting North west Germany and Amsterdam

Boy! WTF lead you to Greifswald?! This is really remote! There should be some rentals on the island of Rugen. Im slightly local and will try to find you something. Dont have too high hopes, Here are some possibilities: Im afraid most of them wont speak too much English. http://www.kiteboarding-usedo...
