Tacking troubles

Been practicing my tacks for a year now and cant get them nailed. Most of the time I am unable to stay over the board when kite is at 12 and I am about to twist to new tack. I tend to fall over the board on the new windward side. Intitating the turn I do tend to lean away from the board, windward to...

Re: cabrinha velocity 16m

My 16 Velocity works perfect foiling, especially upwind. My lower limit is the ability for the kite to hover. If it flies, I fly... Have also the 13 but it wont get me going in really light winds. If I get it going it will go just as well as the 16 but needs a bit more wind to start. If the wind pic...

Re: Controlling sword hight when riding.

It is my experience that you should do the exact opposite that on the TT. You control the pitch of the board by moving your body or legs in a controlled way. On the TT the waves would move you and you would adapt to this. Try and take more rigid position where your joints (knees, hips etc) would mak...

Re: Challenge with pitch going downwind

Im very concious about how high i foil. In large chop i try to stay as low as possible with no touchdowns. Speed is definitely also a factor. Under 15 kts its now problem but above 20 its becoming scary. Ive seen some tech talk about negative lift on the stabilizer. I might work on creating more neg...

Challenge with pitch going downwind

Upwind is fine but a bit nervous, but under control. When I turn downwind its starts bobbing when I overtake small waves. I can clearly feel the pitch change when the pressure of the wings change. I have tried tuning the rear wing (Spotz 1) but without much luck. Any suggestions or is this just more...

Tacking - ow with video

So spent 3 days roll tacking. I´ve established that my surfboard tacks does not work on the foilboard. I seem to put so much weight on my backfoot to create lift and pivot that i foil out of the water. S a more gentle carve seem to be the tool. Yesterday put on the GoPro as Im getting fed up after a...

Re: Tacking

Good idea by taking a step further back and just stay with the roll tack. My board is relatively narrow so I need to stay on my CL. Yesterday was indeed underpowered so bigger kite today will help.
Thanks Gunnar! :bye: Great videos by the way :thumb:

Tacking

The riding is now under control both up and downwind. It is now time to look at the turns. As my pedigree is from waveboards I thought I could just use the tack as on the surfboard. That results in my foil leaving the water every time as I clearly push too hard on my back foot (as I do on my surfboa...

Re: Foiling downwind

When I ride its only small windcreated waves, probably less than 50 cm. It may be a too high riding position and I need to "lower" the board. I still need clearance to go over the wave but i guess its a matter of training (have only aprox 2 hrs of downwind experience) Maybe also a more "rigid" posit...

Foiling downwind

When I head downwind and the bar pressure gets light and pressure on the board is not supporting me, I feel all the waves under the foil. The changes in water pressure pushes the board up and down and my ride gets "bumpy" and often sends me in head first into a foil bomb. Is there a problem with my ...
