Re: Moving from Switchblade to FX

I've never quite understood the obsession with 'upwind ability'. Perhaps its just the type of kiting I do but even on a C I never find myself thinking 'damn I wish I could get upwind 10% faster". With any kind of decent power all kites go upwind fine don't they?

Re: Kite Manufacturing - free feedback

Cheap zips on kite bags are a bad idea (looking at you North) Either use high quality ones or even better make a zipperless design using toggles and flaps - far more sensible!

Re: Why do pros often leash direct to CL?

Ok just had a kite session where exactly the same thing happened to me.. that is my leash ended up somehow clipping onto my harness hook as well as the 8 ring which is a bit scary. I blame the North leash which has a long an easy to open gate on the clip. Would be far safer IMO to use a clip with a ...

Plastic tubing for North Quad depower line

The North Wakestyle bar has plastic tubing around both depower lines. Has anyone tried adding something similar to a regular North bar? If so what did you use for the tubing? Seems like it would solve line wear issues and also stop that rope burn I constantly get when splitting my fingers across the...

Re: Big Land Gaps

Have often wondered what specific techniques you can use when going for maximum jump distance for gaps like these (as opposed to pure height). Loops or moving the kite while airborne would help but how about the actual take-off? Edit: kind of hard to see in Aarons video due to the angle, but it seem...

Re: Why do pros often leash direct to CL?

The kites I use don't have a figure of 8 ring, its just an O ring, so you are supposed to hook onto the O ring, and also onto the chicken loop. However, as mentioned above, I've bent quite a few of the leash carabiners by getting them trapped between CL and hook, and on one occasion as also mention...

Re: Why do pros often leash direct to CL?

And yes I can see the advantage in leashing direct to the CL to create a one stage release, perhaps most useful in big waves. Don't think I'd ever ride with no leash at all though.. accidental unhooking has happened to me a few times and it would suck to lose the kite each time.
