Re: Firewire EVo versus Vader

Strekke gives a pretty good rundown. But as a beginner any of them will work. I'm about 150lbs 5'11" Also do not be conservative on the downsizing. My 5'1" Evo is a dream to (paddle) surf even on small wave days, 5'3" Vader seems a little big for both kiting and regularly surfing. I've kited a 5'1" ...

Re: Kitefoiling at the 2024 Olympic games

meh, trying to put extreme sports into the olympics is kinda lame. Do we really need a huge uptick in users? Seems like the kite industry is on a nice steady uptick and normally when there is a huge expansion nothing great ever happens in an extreme sport that relies on a scarce resource (ex. back c...

Re: Any tips on building a foilboard...

Njrider, does your foil have a tuttle or plate mount?

If it's a plate mount it's really easy to do a plywood one, or modifying a surfboard. If it's a tuttle one either modifying a surfboard, or building your own isn't that hard if you are handy.

Also there is always buying one second hand.

Re: Moving from Switchblade to FX

To be clear the FX IS A PERFECTLY FINE KITE, but I don’t stand for BS. Right from the cow’s teet... “modified C shape design” The FX is a bridled c when you boil it down. Yeah it’s not a %100 pure C kite with a bridle. But it’s competitors/ category are bridled C’s (RPM, Dice, etc) Sure it might go ...

Re: Moving from Switchblade to FX

Bullshit on “upwind like a rocket,” it’s a bridled C kite. No bridled c kite is going to go upwind like a rocket. That’s like saying the Apollo is amazing for unhooking.

If you want to do more freestyle oriented stuff while taking a slight upwind and wind range hit then a bridled c kite is good.

Re: Kai on the proper hydrofoil kite. Exact opposite.

It really depends how you like to ride waves. Seems like (*DISCLAIMER* from the footage I've seen of him) Kai likes to ride more powered (from the kite) on a wave. Versus someone who really just wants a kite to pull them into the wave and then be able to turn off that power when they are riding it.
