Re: 30.4m Jump on Woo?

If pro's in CT don't get up to 30m on a solid 40+ knot Cape Dr. wind with big clean kickers, I highly doubt this guy did it in Brazil's tropical 25-30 kts winds and flat water/no kickers.

Re: 2018 Naish Slash

Hmmm, tricky question. Low ends are kind of hard to compare because the kites fly (and need to be flown!) very differently. I have 2018 Pivot 7m, and Slash 9 & 6. My findings: I'm thinking about getting a Naish Slash 9m and a smaller one. Is the gap between 9 and 6 too much or should I go for a 9 a...

Re: 2018 Naish Slash

Hi All, Getting some great info on this thread. I need some advice from Pivot/Slash users. Been riding Pivots every year since 2015. I only ride a directional in the surf. Do lots of downwinders mostly. I am 84kgs and currently have the 7/9m Pivot 2018’s. Would call myself intermediate/advanced. Ha...

Road trip South Africa in December: Durban - CT

Have been to CT a few times, and love it. However, to mix it up a bit, I am contemplating a road trip in December along the South African coast for 3 weeks 8) . Durban - Cape Town, round trip, with a week or so in CT. Plan is to be flexible and just look at the forecast and chase the wind/waves, and...

Re: beginner hydrofoiler questions

Not totally underpowered but also not well powered/overpowered. 12 - 15 knots on a 12m in chop free flat water without waves is ideal. For 16-20 knots you're better off on an 8 or a 9m. More than that, go TT. Remember to try and keep the board down as much as possible for your first session(s). Ride...

Re: Strapless surfkite board fins

Good topic! I've only been playing around with quad vs thruster for a few months on my Vader - Futures V2 F4. Quad helps with upwind and it goes a little faster; thruster slows it down a bit but gives more grip and maybe a bit snappier turns. Came off a thruster WAM, so was used to the "on rails" fe...

Re: Rescuing A Loose Kite At Sea ...

A few years ago, I was in Cape Town for my first time ever. Riding Big Bay, on lowish tide, on a 9m only OK powered on a TT, and a guy in front of me turns out of nowhere without looking. There was no way to avoid him, the kites tangle, my line snaps, and kites start looping. Total clusterfuck, so I...

Interesting opinion above - what board do you ride exaxtly? Or is it a custom?

Re: Neo, Dice or Evo for 12m

If you want a North kite for low wind, why don't you just get their specific low-wind kite? The Mono has some serious low end and drifts nicely. Depending on your weight and which board you plan to ride in 14-16 knots, you might even get away with an 11m or even a 10m. Edit: just read that you are n...
