Re: Complete beginner advice..

Hey, FattyArbuckle. You are correct that a typical 2 or 3 line trainer won't replicate what you'll experience with a 4-line sheetable LEI (leading edge inflatable) on the water. However, by learning to use the trainer kite (I prefer the term "power kite"), you'll learn useful and important concepts ...

Re: New member from Florida

Hey, Ben. Most brands' promo literature will identify the model or models that are good for beginner-intermediate riders. Generally, when the kite is laid out flat on the ground, you'll want a "bowed" shape on the leading edge as opposed to a more rectangular kite shape (sometimes called a "C" kite ...

Re: New board advice? CF Raptor LTD?

The new boards with channels are great for cutting smoothly through chop. I've ridden and like the CF LTD, but I think it can sometimes feel stiff with all the carbon in the layup. I really like the quad concave Axis Limited (Axis Vanguard is also good) in a small size (132) with bigger kite. It rea...

Re: New member from Florida

Ben, Slingshot is a solid reputable brand. For a good all around beginner-intermediate level kite, the Slingshot Rally is your best option in that brand. A lot of shops will want to sell you the RPM, but it's more of a hybrid kite that works better for intermediate-advanced riders who want to ride u...

Re: Video Clips Toby Braeuer Airstyle

"Thru lines pass"??? Crazy stuff. Toby, your next logical progression would be "Lines Stitching" or "Sewing the Lines"......thru lines on one side and thru other side in opposite direction...... Can it be done?? :o

Re: Gasping for breath after crash?! Breathing how to?

Swimming teaches breathing techniques. If you've never had a swim lesson, you should join an adult freeswim ( crawl) course and get some coaching. It's amazing how little most people know about correct swim technique. +1. When I was a kid competing on a local swim team, my coach (incorrectly) told ...

Re: Gasping for breath after crash?! Breathing how to?

Since no one else has said it, here it is. Aerobic conditioning is important. If you're out of shape, you get winded easily. If your issue is breathing pattern, not conditioning, then others may have better answers. But if you're getting winded from kiteboarding, then you're out of shape and need to...

Re: End of March, first week of April - best spot in middle america?

Got it! Thanks for the clarification (and the link). I'm learning new stuff all the time!! In the Caribbean, I still like Turks & Caicos (although they are technically just outside the Caribbean Sea). The wind is usually constant, but not nuking. lt's usually lighter wind riding (12-17 meter kites)....

Re: End of March, first week of April - best spot in middle america?

By "middle america", do you mean "Central America"? Just a terminology question. In the USA, we'd describe our central states (Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, etc.) as "middle america". If you're considering the US, then Hatteras Island (North Carolina) would be tops on my list of recommendations. Some w...
