Re: Hook harness completely broke off

I had the same thing happen 4-5 years ago on a Dakine spreader bar. Yours looks like a Mystic??? You're right....it shouldn't happen. If your leash is attached to your flag out line, the kite will behave as if you punched out at your chicken loop. Of course, if you're mid-air in the middle of a big ...

Re: Packing up a foil kite with wet bar

Thanks for all the input. I packed my kite with the bar outside the bag this afternoon. :thumb: I'm getting hooked on my 15m Speed 4 for light to moderate wind. I'm still using LEIs in higher wind, but that may change as I get more comfortable with the Flysurfer. The hang time on the 15m is addictiv...

Re: Do all High Aspect Kites Control Like Buses?

What size XR4 did you try? My experience with super high aspect kites (Apollo, Edge, foil kites) is that the smaller sizes (10 m and less) are quick enough for fast powered loops and crisp transitions. 12 m is borderline slow. Above 12 m, they tend to feel lethargic. I still like to use the larger s...

Re: Packing up a foil kite with wet bar

Thanks, guys. I'll try it. It'll allow me to wash the bar, too, so good solution. :thumb:

Packing up a foil kite with wet bar

Okay, foil kite users.....how do you pack up your kite with a wet bar? I follow the procedures in the Flysurfer/Ozone videos and roll my bar in my kite. Problem is, my bar is always wet after a session and, even after I put it into a stuff sack, it gets my kite wet. I can't stand a wet kite. I thoug...

Re: Gear that has exceeded your expectations!

To eliminate the boredom, maybe try a totally new angle in the sport, not just new equipment similar to your old stuff. By that, I mean approach the sport differently. If you've never tried hydrofoiling, maybe that's the answer. Or try a buggy or landboard, or plan a snowkiting trip. I have always u...

I hope the board gets back to its owner. I also hope the owner learns from this experience and puts name and number on the board. :thumb:

Re: How to fall correctly?

Sergei, I'm not sure the carryover from snowboarding to kiteboarding is going to help much. As said in previous posts, kiteboarding is 90% about the kite, which (of course) is not a factor in snowboarding. Balance on a snowboard depends on counteracting gravity (plus dealing with changes in terrain ...

Re: How to fall correctly?

I think a beginner should let go of the bar to let the kite depower and fall to the water. As others have said, this reduces the chance of an unwanted kiteloop or deathgrip-full-power. Once a kiter is more experienced with good kite control skills, it's usually preferable to keep both hands on the b...

Re: Help settle a bet

Looping won't wear out your kite sooner, IMHO, but it may wear out your lines sooner (due to friction generated by crossed lines).
