Re: Going even bigger foil kite, what size?

we have done the 15 vs 18 and 19 test many times..........hands down the 15 eventually loses to the 18 and 19......when you can just stand on the foil and ride almost upright because the 15 doesnt have enough pull.......you will still be racing on the 18 , 19 and leaning.........so yes 19 r1v2

Re: -ing gear for the lightest of the winds

this 950 square cm alpine foil high aspect wing and the p18m could be the super ultra light wind holy grail setup! We are using this wing and it makes it stupidly easy to get up in no wind....and can still reach 25 knots. At this point its all about the kite and how big and light it is. 19894926_171...

Re: -ing gear for the lightest of the winds

ya kinda agree on the 27 m lines getting overpowered quickly.........it does give some nice extra float when redirecting on lightwind boosting( which makes a 15 -20 foot boost more fun.) ......but other than that its really only if you have a 15m or less and want to squeeze maybe another 1/2 knot ou...

Re: -ing gear for the lightest of the winds

yes extensions do help.........generally you dont need more than 27m lines, the powerstroke alone helps even if there are no gradients higher. We also tried the shorter lines and they really suck the life/power out of a kite, that in combination with a racewing would be a disaster. Shorter lines are...

Re: -ing gear for the lightest of the winds

....sometime the wind can drop quickly and it seems everyone has to get off at the same time and there appears to be no benefit to a bigger kite. However we are fortunate to have steady thermals which die out slowly, thus it becomes easy to experiment and notice that the bigger kite can still work f...

Re: -ing gear for the lightest of the winds

we are very lucky to have multiple riders on different kites in the same conditions.........at the bottom end there comes a point where you might get on the board but just dont have the pull of the kite. With absolute certainty i can tell you that at some point with the 15m sonic2 there just isnt en...

Re: 19.6m boosting on flatwater.

when you truly jump alot.....i mean thousands upon thousands........you can really appreciate all the different types of wind, and there are many.......its not unusual to go jump only 6m and then 16m plus in the same session....if its gusty or up and down wind......you can not predict a gusty wind, ...

Re: Small vs large foil board

......its called an expression.....to illustrate a point....hammer it home (but not using a hammer or a home), sometimes on internet its to easy to misinterpret what is trying to be said or say something correctly so everyone gets it in the first place............but its all good!
