Re: Kites for 60kg girl - chose of shape and size (Slingshot example)

Change your boards, not your kite. I've had much more success in swapping out to a different board when the conditions change and just riding my same 10m or 7m kite. Those 2 kites take me from 15 to 35-40kt by switching out between boards. I could milk the 10m down to 10kt or so if I wanted to foil....

Re: Shoe goo on depower line to prevent wear?

Why bother? As long as you're not grinding sand into them DP lines last for ages and cost next to nothing to replace when they do wear out.

Re: Firewire Vader

Now I'm pretty sure my 5'5 is oversized for me, but never thought that the stability it brings will affect my skills so much. Vader is interesting shape for sure, it planes well flat powerless waves, goes through chop nicely, but it turns much harder than performance shortboard and feels so differe...

Re: Firewire Vader

Sorry, no. The VG is a MUCH better light wind board than the VD. The VD certainly shines in optimal conditions, but since tao didn't mention big waves the VG is a significantly better option. Less rocker, better planing and an all around better board until the waves get overhead and the wind is blow...

Re: Kite leaking from valve??? Oh hell no!!!

Haha..you have inspired me to fix up my ARS jus for shit and giggles. I will even use the double chivkenloop. LOL, go for it. But you're going to find it's mostly shits (in your shorts) and not too many giggles. Granted I was flying it on a school field with squirrley wind, but damn, I'm SO g...

Re: downwinder ultrlight pack

For a 10 mile coastal DW run an EPIRB would be pointless. Great for open ocean distance kiting where you can be miles from shore and break your kite, but 10 miles DW is really only an hour or two depending on how good the waves are. By the time SAR actually gets around to launching a mission you'll ...

Re: Blown or deflated LE while on water

LOL @ how everyone notices how loud it is. I blew the LE on my 9m Mayhem a half mile off shore and the first thought that went through my head was, "WTF?!? Someone just shot at me!" It sounded exactly like a bullet whizzing by. Fortunately the old Mayhem was a 5 strut and it flew well enough to get ...

Re: downwinder ultrlight pack

Camelbak with 2l bladder. Water is the #1 thing I'd carry. $20 in small bills and $2 in quarters for the bus and or beer. A little pair of those Japanese roll up shoes or booties so you don't shred your feet if you have to walk a few miles. A waterproof bag and your phone so you can call your friend...

Re: Airush Ultra: one strut kite that meets expectations of a foilkite fan

Yes i realize that ; my question is : Are they using Spectra , (Woven-Fiber) on the Airush Ultra ? As the fabric itself? No. The canopy is still Dacron. If you look at the pictures all that criss-cross stuff is Dyneema tape. It allows the canopy fabric to be lighter and the tape supposedly transfer...

Re: Airush Ultra: one strut kite that meets expectations of a foilkite fan

^Love the polar charts, super helpful in visualizing the the kite characteristics. What's VMG (the inner dotted line) though? Now that got my attention ; what weight are they using ? There basically is NO finer or stronger fiber , (in it's class) then spectra !!! Bille Agreed, but Dyneema is also UH...
