Re: broken line causes kite damage

Never heard of a kite self destructing from a line failure.A line breaks, the kite falls from sky.Any damage is caused by what happens after break, not the broken line itself.Any extra stress on remaining lines is inconsequential. That's not exactly true. I've had a a front line snap in the middle of...

Re: 2018 Naish Global

haha yeah I get those too. Also because sometimes its just so shallow and I have found that I'd rather grind the fins than cut my feet. #MokesProblems  I knocked 2 fins off recently when I was crossing the reef on the crest of the wave and it suddenly sucked dry in front of me. :( Rode a slipp...

Re: Strapless board shape?

The nose makes no difference. Just imagine the rail line extending out to a point and the board will ride the same as that "traditional" shape. Say ~8" or so longer for the one you pictured. The one you have has a nice rail line, not too parallel, and a medium width tail. It should surf just fine in...

Re: Tips for learning to kite with a prosthetic leg.

I would think that a large board would be a nice stable platform. I would think a SUP, longboard, Egg, or fish would be where I would start. Light winds and a floaty board make for some peaceful sessions. Switch to a SUP paddle if the winds are too light. With SUPs, I've found it easier to fly the ...

Re: 2018 Naish Global

Don't bother with a pad in the middle. You never really step there and don't need the padding to help with heel dents and hard landings. I just put a bit of wax in the middle to keep from slipping off if I accidentally step on it, but that rarely happens. If you really hate wax hexatraction or some ...

Re: Buoy Wear Floating Hat for Kiters

"First Ever Floating Hat"? Really. That's funny because all my ball caps and my airSUP hat and my Adams sun hat and my Tilley hat float. Methinks your claim to be utter bullshit.

Re: Cresting waves in sideshore wind

I was having trouble staying upwind. :-? If that's the case you really shouldn't be kiting in the waves. Head high waves can really mess you up if you get rolled, surfing they're nothing, but kiting they can really ruin your day. You should really stay out of waves until the whole idea of "staying ...

Re: Cresting waves in sideshore wind

Why do you care about "losing ground downwind"? It's blowing over 20. You can make up ground anywhere. The break zone isn't that big. When the waves are head high or over you just need to either send the kite before the wave hits and jump over the whitewash or fall off and run down to a non breaking...

Re: Concave, flat or convex bottoms

It's still concave, double, but overall concave or flat. If it were truly convex it would be extremely difficult to hold an edge and wouldn't plane well. I rode a Mako for years and really liked it, but finally got rid of it because, although it was very smooth in chop , it had lousy edge hold and d...

LOL. Buy EVA foam on Ebay. Replace foam on bar. Simple. I'm running on the 4th recover on my bar now.
