Re: North coming out with a new foil?

Strange to see the directions of the winglets , no ? For the front wing, on top of being the first part to touch the ground, aerodynamic usages normally turn them upward, otherwise Airbus an Boeing should fire their engineers... Originality did not turn out to be a succees for North first foil, I si...

Re: Kite for 6-10 knots

very interesting. Just 3 comments : - not sure that Flysurfer invented the closed cells. I think it is Benoit Tremblay with the famous Laurent Ness as preliminary tester. - not all foil require pre-inflation. I never Pre-inflate my Pulsion, and this may be the same for kitech fly and Ozone Hyperlink...

Re: Kite for 6-10 knots

You misunderstand me, I would agree wholeheartedly that the wind in the video is not above 10 knots. You're also 20kg less than me from what I've read, so that might account for the difference, but a 15m is never the wrong choice for 10 knots on most of the production foils available today with mos...

Re: Kite for 6-10 knots

I think anyone who says they're overpowered on a 15m in 10 knots doesn't know what 10 knots of wind is... I am with you on your previous comparision of 12m vs 15m feeling, but not at all on above "assumption" Here is a video of "Mr Anyone" ; https://vimeo.com/205170218 Wind was 4-10 knots ; we can ...

Re: Kite for 6-10 knots

Oh fuck I forgot my foil !!! :duh:  No, I launch it pure upwind before starting swimming and then re-pushed it once I reached again its level ; you can use a temporary leash as well. Other more user friendly method but requires a bit more wind (still feasible in 6 knots altitude wind with a ver...

Re: Kite for 6-10 knots

My answer for on-shore winds: foilkite with limited AR = almost auto-stable at the zenith ; I let my bar go on stopper and swim backward with energy (on the back, checking the kite but with both hands swimming) , up to have enough depth to foil (I just correct kite direction with one hand pull every...

Re: Kite for 6-10 knots

Yes , depending on your weight but generally speaking yes ( especially if it is not a race kite but moderate AR). With my 62kg and moderate AR 15m2, "big" power comes from 8 knots.

Re: Foiling in zero wind..

indeed this video is easier as it shows the transient stage from speed 0. The combination of both is just a change in referencial , similarly as the river-no-wind debate ! In pure downwind on this vehicule, the direct link between wheel speed and helix rotation speed allows it to always accelerating...

Re: Foiling in zero wind..

That car thing is actually moving straight upwind, not the same principle :!: Thank you. In fact it is downwind :naughty: (Ok but there is no wind ...  ) Anyway to catch the "downwind" thing , you need to imagine you are located on the rolling carpet. relative wind will come from the le...

Re: Concept'air Pulsion 15m

Not sure the bar from concept air is the best if it is your question. Most of the pulsion sold in France that I know were witout bar. If its trim lenght is long enough (say above 20cm to fix idea, but next time I will measure accurately what is the trim requirement for your service :thumb: ), it wil...
