Are you talking about attaching to a fixed object?
Exactly. I've done this with LEIs a hundred times. Attach carabiner to chicken loop. Unhook and walk up the lines with one hand on the safety line. Works like a charm with LEIs, even in super strong winds. I'm curious how the Soul would do.

Re: Flysurfer Soul

This might be a dumb question but can you use a carabiner to self land the Soul? The backstall method usually ends up in a twisted mess for me.

Anyone try the Blade Unibar v3?

Looks good for what I need -- light and simple, and the right line lengths. Can't find much review info online though.

Thanks!

How important is a trim strap / cleat?

I’m just getting into the foil kite game and I’ve been enjoying them with my Cloud CCS bar which has no trim strap. It does have a long 27” throw. I love it’s simplicity and light weight.

Since foil kites are a different beast, how important is a trim strap / cleat?

Re: Fly surfer soul wind range

I have 2 days on the 6m and was foiling in somewhat gusty 15-23 knot winds. No problems at all. I’m likely gonna get the 10m and try a 2 kite quiver as well.

Re: Flysurfer Soul

I took a 10m & 6m Soul to Maui last week. The wind was typical for Maui in the summer, 20 to 25 knots gusting to 30 most days. I found the 10 was the perfect kite every day. There was a day when I tried the 6, but went back to the 10 for the lofty airs. The best part about the Soul was even when th...

Re: Flysurfer Soul

Can a Soul expert suggest a quiver size for me? 160 lbs, hydrofoil freeride only, riding between 10kt and 25kt.

Been foiling for 4 years but very limited experience flying a foil kite.

Could I get away with 6 and 10 only? Danke!

Re: Flysurfer Soul

Had my first session on my new Soul 8m. Man the kite is damn fast and drifts much nicer than my Soul 15m. Could land a jump towards the kite with speed and it held its shape extremely well. I’m use to flying my 15 pretty over powered so the hangtime wasn’t as good but I was in only 15-17 kts. Was a...

Re: Hangtime kite for 20+ knot hydrofoil? Flysurfer Soul 6m?

That is a fair point. I recently converted to seat harness and find I can ride much more powered as well. I’m not looking for boosts to the moon, just something solid. At those high winds, I probably care more about hangtime for tacks. Again, I’m used to tiny Clouds with barely any hangtime so tacks...

Re: Hangtime kite for 20+ knot hydrofoil? Flysurfer Soul 6m?

Foil kites are a handful at really high windspeeds. For 20-25 knots I'd be looking at an 8 or a 9m, especially if you want to go flying. I’d be worried about being overpowered on an 8 though. For what it’s worth, I foil on an 8 when TTers are on 12s. I want something for when TTers are on 9s and 10s.
