Re: Flysurfer Soul

Can a Soul expert suggest a quiver size for me? 160 lbs, hydrofoil freeride only, riding between 10kt and 25kt.

Been foiling for 4 years but very limited experience flying a foil kite.

Could I get away with 6 and 10 only? Danke!

Re: Flysurfer Soul

Had my first session on my new Soul 8m. Man the kite is damn fast and drifts much nicer than my Soul 15m. Could land a jump towards the kite with speed and it held its shape extremely well. I’m use to flying my 15 pretty over powered so the hangtime wasn’t as good but I was in only 15-17 kts. Was a...

Re: Hangtime kite for 20+ knot hydrofoil? Flysurfer Soul 6m?

That is a fair point. I recently converted to seat harness and find I can ride much more powered as well. I’m not looking for boosts to the moon, just something solid. At those high winds, I probably care more about hangtime for tacks. Again, I’m used to tiny Clouds with barely any hangtime so tacks...

Re: Hangtime kite for 20+ knot hydrofoil? Flysurfer Soul 6m?

Foil kites are a handful at really high windspeeds. For 20-25 knots I'd be looking at an 8 or a 9m, especially if you want to go flying. I’d be worried about being overpowered on an 8 though. For what it’s worth, I foil on an 8 when TTers are on 12s. I want something for when TTers are on 9s and 10s.

Hangtime kite for 20+ knot hydrofoil? Flysurfer Soul 6m?

I'm looking for a new kite for hydrofoiling in 20-25 knot winds. Priorities for me are hangtime for tacks, boost for big air, and drift. I've been kiting 13 years and hydrofoiling for 4, all with LEIs. 160lbs/70kg. For the past couple years I've flown 5m Clouds in this wind range. Super fun zippy ki...

Can I paint my lines a different color?

I replaced my lines with some new ones from Liquid Force. However, they're black and blue and I just realized they blend in with just about everything.

Can I paint them something bright like neon green? Will that compromise their strength in any way? What kind of paint would you recommend?

Thanks!

Re: What type of kites are you guys liking for foiling?

What are your thoughts on the Best Kahoona? I just started foiling and my wife is brand new into kiting. The Kahoona is a great learning kite but also has great relaunch for me in case I get stuck in light winds. Not sure how its weight compares to my Best TS though.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Liquid Force fun foil

There have been many recent posts about preventing corrosion but the science is a bit over my head ;-)

Bottom line -- what stuff, if any, should I put in the Liquid Force foil screw holes?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Learning to Kite Board Hydro Foil, Safely

Just learned to foil and I had a few more tips to add: 1. When water starting, if the board isn't aligned quite right, get out of the straps and start over. If you wrestle the board back in front of you with your abs or legs, you'll waste a ton of energy. The foil will automatically follow you downw...
