Re: with gear. No bars in carryon?

Happened to a friend on a layover in Turkey first - airport security wouldn't allow bar in carryon bag. Same on Thursday happened to me after riding in La Ventana and flying out of SJD. Officer was refusing to show any regulation saying why and how a bar won't be allowed, just refusing to allow it....

Re: Leash carabiner opening after unhook trick?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1OI6McCZqs This is what happens. No force needed at all! Not a bad carabiner perse (although off course there are carabiners that can be locked). Its just that the size of the carabiner icw the size of the ring are a bad combination and the ring twists exactly the c...

Re: Exchanging kites between 2 foilers while riding!

Doable, absolutely.
I would just " hand over" the kites, throwing it like on the video has a low success ratio IMO.

Re: Risk vs reward... learning and progression at 40

"You'll have to find your personal limits. Be smart, prepare, Think. Work out. Do progressions. Learn to hear what your body is saying to you." Very good summation from Tom......and comments from many others!! And I would add to KEEP MOVING! We are made for that. Better to enjoy to the best of your...

Re: Stance width?

I also don't think its about style, but more about ability. I mean the more you refine your sense of balance the more you can allow your self to "stand up" since room for error is a lot less. (center of gravity etc.) This of course has its limits especially regarding the speed, so instead of going f...

Re: Any kiters here saved the lives of swimmers?

I am working on a campaign at the moment that tells the story of kiteboarding in a positive light. All to often are we cast as the outlaws on the beach, crashing kites and scaring beach-goers. Little is said about the lives that kiteboarders have saved over the years. We love when the wind picks up...

Re: Any kiters here saved the lives of swimmers?

My story don't have a happy ending, but a very tragic one... Three years ago just before Christmas, I was teaching my wife to kite in Tabuba lagoon near Cumbuco. It was morning about 9.30 so we were the only kiters that day, exept for a Brasilian family on the other side of the lagoon. All of a sudd...
