Re: Sandusky Bay sandbar notice!

The sand bar is the location of the Sandusky Barge Party, I went there one time on a friends boat. I will include a youtube video and you can find lots of pictures and videos, some are entertaining. They have had some problems with litter during the barge party and many other times. They are not pla...

Re: Lac d'annecy, info?

I have spent time there in the summer and rarely has it ever been windy. There are lakes in the Alps where it gets windy but I don’t think that lake is one of them

Re: Short mast cons during learning

I find that shorter masts require you to really be careful with your elevation above the water. If you have a longer mast and you rise up a little higher than you would like, you have more time to gently steer the foil down. I have shorter masts for shallow water but I really dislike using them.

Re: Punta Cana deep enough?

I have not been on a foilboard in front of the Royalton, but much of the area has reefs and they can be shallow. The tide makes a difference but I have run into reefs with a 90cm mast. I don't like shorter masts but used a 70cm mast when the tide was lower. Depending on the wind direction, I could u...

Re: What to look when buying a used foil kite?

I think the strategy of knocking down the price until you are happy is the route most take. I am usually on the other side but I have bought some used foil kites. I think there is probably more worry than there needs to be. I bought a used 9m Sonic 2, it was used a few times before I bought it and n...

Re: Moving To Miami?

I spent the last two weeks of December in Miami Beach. Had a few nice days on the hydrofoil. As you walk around, you can see many of the projects that are raising the roads. Sunset Harbor is turning out to be really nice, I would often have coffee there. Rising sea levels are not a projection in Mia...

Re: Ketos: Is one-bolt mount strong enough?

I have used my Ketos foil with both Ketos boards and an Aplinefoil KFBox to plate (90mmx160mm) carbon adaptor. The mast fits perfectly into the Ketos boards. The carbon adaptor fit is just a little loose, I now put a tiny bit of plastic bag on the far sides of the mast when inserting the mast into t...

Re: Anyone know any details on the new upcoming foil from Flysurfer?

I think the current sizes are great expect for the 9m and then 6m. I think that is too large of a gap, I would prefer a 7m and 5m or a 7.5m and 6m, something like that. I realize that they do not sell a ton of the small kites, but going from a 6m to a 9m is a big step. Now with foil boards, you don'...

Re: Advice on foil kite

I fly both foil kites and LEI. I prefer foil kites and prefer to fly them when the launch is reasonable. Several times I have heard from people who have never flown a foil kite that the range is a lot different than a LEI. Interesting that I have never heard this from someone who flies foil kites. M...
