Re: Who was this crazy guy who kited hurricane Irma in Miami Beach?

The ocean looks rough.

Looks to me that he is using a 12m kite and seems a little underpowered. So my guess is about a 14 knot wind, the news reporter's hair is hardly even blowing.

Re: light wind trim?

Lots of good recommendations, keep the kite moving. I think a subtle recommendation is when you want power, let the kite fly quickly and once it is moving quickly you can get a little extra power by pulling in the bar. Pulling in the bar while the kite is flying quickly will give you a little more p...

Re: Nobile Foil Split Board 2018

I have the 2017 Nobile foil board and really like it. I always ride strapless, even when riding without the foil so the straps don't matter much. I will get the new 2018 board and someday try strapped without the foil on a real gusty day when I struggle with the foil. I use a Ketos foil and a carbon...

Re: Controlling Height

I found that shifting the body weight worked better for me than focusing on leg pressure. I ride strapless and it was tough, then it clicked and now I don't even need to thinking about it, my body just does what it needs to do. It is a crazy feeling, I can just look around and see the scenery and th...

Re: FS Sonic Race review anyone?

The Sonic Race does have tip drain openings but you have to look closely for them. The tips are kind of curved and at the bottom of the curve of the tip you will find a small opening. It is smaller than the Sonic drain and no Velcro, I think they will work fine for a little water in the kite but the...

Re: FS Sonic Race review anyone?

I had my 21m Sonic Race out the other day. I was surprised at how well behaved it was when launching. The 18m Sonic2 can take a little while to inflate the tips and the tips can fold and get caught in the bridle easily. I was expecting the 21m to take even longer to inflate and it went very smoothly...

The new 21m Flysurfer Sonic Race is pretty amazing.

Re: Lightwind / non-race foil

I am taking Peter Frank's advice, it really sounds like he knows free riding, thanks for sharing. I have the Freeride2 XL, Freeride2 and the Wave XL on the way. It did take a few weeks to ship, I suspect that summer is a busy time for them.

Re: Techniques for very light wind

Regis-de-giens, Great video!

Looks more like what happens to me when the wind is light. I have the Ketos pocket board on the way with some bigger wings.

I will be in Cannes later in the month, I like to bike ride along that beach, nice scenery in the summer.

Re: Techniques for very light wind

I see lots of cool videos where guys are jumping over mangroves and pretty girls. I don't see many videos of guys struggling to get started in light wind. I seem to find myself in situations more like this too often. I also noticed what looks like a pocket board and I would have used a bigger kite. ...
