Re: I did my first races this past weekend (video and results in post)

Nice work! Did you participate in all the individual races that weekend? Were you flying Sonic3 the entire time? It looked like the leaders were holding down some big kites in that breeze!

Which foil were you racing with?

Mike's Lab Foils- Bullet 2 vs Bullet 3 vs...?

Does anyone know the difference between the different Mike's Lab Foils? I have heard of "Bullet 2" and "Bullet 3" wings and masts. What is the difference? Is there a "Bullet 4"? Are the lower numbers older generations of the foil? Is there a "high wind" vs "light wind" model? Always had the impressi...

Re: The WetSuit Game: Patagonia R4-R5

I went through 2 OR Soul suits before getting an R5. That is to say, both Soul drysuits leaked so I returned them and gave up on drysuits. Mostly foiling, I much prefer a wetsuit over a baggy dry suit, anyway. I definitely recommend the R5 for kiting in full winter conditions. It is a bit of a worko...

Re: Best "FreeRace" Foil Kite?

What is your recommendation for a great "FreeRace" foil kite? - Still loving my Sonics , I would not recommend them for anybody coming from tubes and not having experience with high AR foil kites in the water out of the perfect relaunch position. It sounds like the Sonic2 is a good Freerace option,...

Best "FreeRace" Foil Kite?

What is your recommendation for a great "FreeRace" foil kite? I am thinking of a 2-kite quiver, 11m and 15m. More wind than that and I'll probably stick to my LEI. I am not on the racing scene, so I don't necessarily need a race-only kite. I have both a race foil and a freeride foil, and I simply en...

Re: most durable 2mm gloves

Perfect Curve glove by "Glacier Glove." 2mm, very grippy coating on the outside, pre-curved makes holding your bar very comfortable and eliminates any forearm pump. Nice and stretchy. They are fleece-lined, so they can get smelly if you don't dry them out. Until they get leaky, I can invert them by ...

Re: RRD COTAN vs Naish Skater. I need some help.

I rode a 2014 and a 2015 Naish Skater. The 2014 went back to the factory for warranty reasons- poor saturation of resin meant open air bubbles in the fiberglass. In short, it wasn't watertight. They sent me a 2015 model as a replacement, but it didn't last long. Buckled and then snapped in half afte...

Is Taaroa / Sword Out of the Game?

Taaroa introduced the Sword RS and then...silence. Rumors made it sound like it missed the mark. No pun intended. I personally never saw a single one and had no one to ask about it. Haven't heard anything official about new products lately. The Sword2 is still a great (IMHO) freeride foil, but shoul...

Re: Power.

Plummet, I know how you feel. At our local spot we have a range of tastes for HF power. I am on the "power-hungry" side. Way more fun to dig in and blast around, IMHO. Also nice to have that extra power in reserve for our high alpine lake lulls and occasionally flukey winds. Knowing who everyone is ...
