Re: Launching solo

This video is helpful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5XvVmf1pas Self launch (drag) is quick and can be done safely. Make sure you have plenty of space, make sure there is nothing on the ground that can snag the lines (board, bushes etc.), and double check to make sure your lines are clean. Anchor...

Re: Moving from Switchblade to FX

So you are saying the FX goes upwind better than the leg breaking Switchblade in some wind? interesting, quite different from every other review I've read. Would like to have an FX in my quiver, but this has been an issue - until now! maybe im pretty light and i like to ride lit. My friend who's he...

Re: Moving from Switchblade to FX

you need real strong legs for switchblade when u are overpowered that kite pulls nonstop, fx is a lot more forgiving when u are lit and will shoot forward much better as you edge.

Re: What is the average and maximum gust swing you kite in?

Summer gorge winds can be quite gusty, 10-35+ at hood river is not uncommon. Winter storms if not strong can be 15-30, stronger storms can have 20mph swings and pure survival kiting.

Re: Should I snag a cheap Aeros Gyro?

I would get a more recent depowerable kite if I were you. Winter winds can be quite gusty and last thing you want is to get spanked by gusts when you are learning. Bite the bullet and get a newer ozone or flysurfer kite, or if you are ever interested in kitesurfing get a newer 3 strut LEI.

Re: Could someone please invent a better way to self land a kite in high wind.

not sure why you guys don't tether launch and land in high winds- safest way. If there are logs then nothing fancy just a rope and carabiner. If no logs buy a sandshark Z or some stainless sand screw and put a spare leash to it. Takes <1 min to set up if theres a log or something and takes <5 min to...
