Re: 2017 King of Great Lakes Test Fest

Toby, is personal equipment allowed, or is the the area reserved for testers only?

Re: Self-Rescue: The big problem with Ram airs

Just a word to those riding the inflatables: always pinch your struts off! It does no good to have a kite that can self rescue if you pop a valve and the entire kite turns into a laundry bag. I think maybe 90% of the kiters out there never in their life pinched a strut off. Too much effort? I dunno...

Re: Kite sizes beginner's question

I'm about the same weight and I have to agree with you. I have a 7-10-13.5-17 quiver. 7-Blade Trigger 10-LF NRG 13.5-Best Kahoona 17-Blade Fat Lady. In our area, we get a lot of 13-20 mph days that my Fat lady is very happy in. If the wind is more consistent, 18-22, then my 13.5 is more comfortable ...

Re: Which 18 meters foil kite would drift launch and float the most .

Pansch also has a Lotus cloth equivalent. I have that in a 22m Aurora 2 which flys well. Last time I had it out, the wind died and it sat on the water for at least five minutes before it came up again. It relaunched to problem. Pansch quality control is reportedly a bit sketchy, but you can't beat t...

Dang, did this happen at Metro? You're right about keeping the car out of the line of fire. I'll need to be more aware that.

Re: Lightwind Kite recommendations (Big guy)

I have the 2015 Fat Lady and love it. I'm 215lb and use it with all three of my boards, (164 Spleen, Mako King, and 148 Vanguard). It's my goto kite most of the time out here in the Detroit area where it seems the winds are predominantly 12-20 when in the right direction. It has a nice wind range an...

Re: Twintip Advice for Heavy Rider

+1 on the Axis Vanguard. I have the 148 for low winds with either my 17m Fat Lady. I weight in at 215lb (before the holidays). I like the Vanguard so much I also got a 138 for higher winds.

Thanks for the reply. It gives me hope that I should be ready for the spring winds!

Any veteran partial knee replacement kiters out there?

I had a partial left knee done end of November. Rehab is a piece of cake so far; full range of motion, no problem going up and down steps and minimal limp, (none if I concentrate). The big focus know is rebuilding my left quads and gaining stability. I'm probably going to skip this season's kite ski...

Re: Most Comfortable Harness

I second the ION B2. Really comfortable. No problem with wedgies, but then again, I'm not a super booster yet either.
