Why do Foils Howl?

Please can someone who knows tell me the real reason some foils Howl? I've heard it's salt on the mast and other people have said it's because you're riding to slow but these answers sound a bit like "old wives tales". There is a lad with a new Naish foil down where I ride and that thing Howls like ...

Re: Wind range and gusts - beginner question

I'm just back from the Outer Hebridies where the wind is cold and damp which means it's dense and those wind ratings are written for sunny hot places and 75kg riders riding in shorts as opposed to a 5/3, boots and gloves. Re: Advice from an older married kiter to a young one

I instructed my daughters myself and kept them safe. Always distance... My girlfriend took lessons resulting in tangled kites and injury to the hand due to snapped leash. IMHO the commercial interests of the kiteschool jeopardized safety. Too crowded spot... most kiteschools did like hers... don't ...

Re: Beware fishing lines and carry a knife.

I'll be packing steel from now on, today I snagged a huge fish hook and over a hundred meters of line, the fisherman must of cut the line. The spinner wrapped around my mast and started tapping as I rode along, scared the lifeout of me. A local had scissors and cut the mess off my mast, handling tho...

Re: Anyone try the LiP Sunglasses (is Zeiss worth the extra $) ?

Luxottica is the Italian company that owns the sunglasses market, they own all the big brands including all of the "sports eyeware" brands. Sunglasses cost about 30p to make and through amazing marketing people pay over a hundred quid for two screws, two lenses and four bits of plastic. Don't be tak...
