Re: Setting Yourself Up?

It's funny that you're asking what business to start on Kiteforum.com. Check out the site owner/admin's life story, Toby's living the dream with the exact kind of business I'd recommend someone start in the modern era if they want to work soft/play hard. -Web forum with advertiser revenue and classi...

Re: Setting Yourself Up?

1) Cut your monthly spending as much as possible by reducing unnecessary expenses. Sure, making a ton of money is great, but the absolute size of your account is less relevant than the percentage of it that you're able to invest. So if you can live off $3k/month, that allows you to retire sooner on ...

Re: Speed 5 21 or Soul 21

Yeah, Flysurfer's weights rank in this order: Sonic Race, Soul, Sonic2, Speed. My take is that the Soul will be the most user friendly kite in their lineup, followed by the Speed, followed by Sonic, then the Race. I think you can more or less reverse that order to rank the relative performance, so i...

Re: Flysurfer-specific training?

And finally: to Mossy 757, I've thought about going to Virginia Beach for exactly that reason. Is it a good spot? I'm up in Ottawa so it would be a serious drive. I don't think we have any foil racers in town here so would be great to get some tips from the riders down there, if I could ever line t...

Re: Conceptair Wave 6,5.

Great post, thanks for sharing your feedback. I really appreciate the incorporation of sensor data, makes the direct comparison easier between other brands. Sounds like the tip curl fully depowered is pretty standard, all my kites do that when landing with the trimmer pulled in. I usually land fully...

Re: Vertical Drop w Fly Surfer

It's already been said, but suspicions are out of tune bar and shrunken Z causing too much camber, flow separation at the leading edge, and front stall. Tune the bar, tune the bridle to neutral, evaluate performance, add pigtails or splices as appropriate to resolve flight performance. This site has...

Re: Flysurfer-specific training?

If you come to Virginia Beach, one of our locals is the national wholesaler for Flysurfer; I was out on Friday and 5 out of 8 kites on the water were foil kites. That said, if you think you're not getting all the lowend you should out of your 21, that sounds more like it needs to tuned or replaced/r...

Re: Speed 5 21 or Soul 21

I know I'm going out of topic but… as time passes and the Soul is being used by a larger number of kiters, I have the impression that the Speeds made their time. I own a Speed 21, I ride it only with tts and I'm happy with it but it seems the Soul is far better in every department. Am I wrong? Ther...
