as said above, personal preference but as always there are "industry norms" medium bar, kites 8-10M 48-52cm large bar, kites 12-14M and up 55-58+cm small bar, kites 4.5-7M 40-45cm but this is more complicated because some companies use shorter lines with shorter bars and longer lines with longer ba...

I, too am a newbie and this has clarified any confusion I've had regarding yielding to experienced riders.

It's true, I have yet to meet a jerk kiter out there.

Really? My trainer kite will suffice in higher winds? Glad to hear. I do have a 9m as well that I'll use in heavier wind. I'm glad to hear that snow kiting will be a good step. What is the next step? Go out as much as you can - keep trying and practicing. There will be some awkward, frustrating moments - but you will learn from it and it will only get easier. Just be mindful of your surroundings. Let other kiters know you are a beginner (they will find out pretty quickly ...

Yup, Sheeting pressure is a constant you can only affect by changing where the rear lines are attached at the kite. Steering pressure, is affected but you have to consider where your hands are on the bar. Out far takes advantage of that long lever, where in the middle there is a lot less mechanical...
