Re: Prodigy??

I have a 5m and 12m Prodigy with 7&9 Razors in the middle for 85% of the time. I weight 140lbs so the 12 is my lightwind kite and does well up to 20+ if I’m too lazy to pump another kite. The 5m is magic for me. I have ridden it in 40mph gusting to 55 (no joke) and was in full control. I use them at...

Re: Drysuits circa 2018

I have an ocean Rodeo soul and can be comfortable as long as the water is still liquid. I have ridden plenty of times right at freezing, with wind chill in the low teens. Just call the folks at OR and give them your measurements; they will sort you out. Key thing is to get the seals right; there wil...

Re: Oyster foot protection

Ride boots or accept risks. I hate wearing anything on my feet; messed up my connection to the board.

Re: Booties pads and straps

I guess it depends on the feet. I wear size 9 and I can get my 5mm booties in the last three generations of ocean Rodeo straps as well as the entry level North straps. If you are a size 14 you may have different results.

Re: OR Soul: is this over kill for cold water protection?

Hard to beat the “comfort factor”. I gear up at the house, put the dry suit in standby mode (half off), ride to the kite spot, get my session, pack up while being cozy dry, head home, rinse the suit while still wearing it in the outside shower all while being warm and dry. Other dudes I ride with wi...

Re: OR Soul: is this over kill for cold water protection?

Not swim in it...does that mean it's a bad combination with a foil kite? If the foill crashes and becomes a wet blanket would it be more difficult to swim it in if wearing a drysuit? Yes, swimming is best suited to a wetsuit. You are not guaranteed to drown but it will have a lot more bulk slowing ...

Re: OR Soul: is this over kill for cold water protection?

It depends on how sensitive you are to windchill. I have owned that dry suit for a year and I end up using it for more than I ever thought. It might be because I have crappy wet suits but I can have that thing on in any air temperature below 60°F...just dress light so you don’t sweat. As said, it is...

Re: Ocean Rodeo stick shift bar

Get a bunch of kook proof pigtail sets from PKS and leave your adapters on your older kites...this is what I have done across brands and it works fine and is always ready to go. Quick update - I've had some more sessions on the Stick Shift, a few more thoughts: -Highly recommend it for surfing, I te...

Re: Ocean Rodeo stick shift bar

I have put about 9-hours on this new bar so far and for me it turned out to be far more intuitive than I expected. If you ignore the depower system, it is a great bar on its own...clean PU center line and includes all the pigtails to hook up any kite you want. One benefit that I have not seen mentio...

Re: OR Rise or Razor for beginner

I am just going to chime in to reinforce most of what was already said. Check out the prodigy and if you're going to buy used, only by one or two-year-old kites with a know history. I started out riding worn out kites that were four years old and within three months I traded them all in for brand-ne...
