Re: Free kite plans on GitHub

Well this thread has been a bit quiet - maybe we can revive it with sharing the maiden flight of my Cornwall built Agilus strutless 10m. Congratulations Karsten - he flew beautifully straight off the sewing bench - solid canopy, rigid structure, good depower, tight turning. Foiling on a big board w...

Re: Nick Jacobsen leaves Cabrinha team

but that jump is truly insane. just 5 bucks to support him? well worth if you are a fan ! 2nd that! watched the film few months ago on the Danish TV, it was available online for some time. It's much more than the jump! It's few years of consistent progress to get there. What one doesn't realise whe...

Re: Pauwlonia vs. Western Red Cedar (for a TwinTip core)

Have you compared water absorption properties between the 2? As for Pauwlonia sourcing in Europe - I recently spoke to a guy named Chris, who makes 'Kilaia' boards (just google or search Facebook for Kilaia and you'll find him). He's buying ready made planks from somewhere in Spain. And it's locally...

Re: black kites

Good choice! ;) Would you let us know which blue one you ordered? Seems almost every kite brand has a blue colorway in 2019. Even CORE! I bought and end of serie 2018... not a 2019 model... Strutless kite for foiling in light wind, in low wind I was struggling to much to keep my 12 in the air... ti...

Re: black kites

Hello All, thanks for the input... as there is no big difference between black and the other colors in durability I ordered a Blue one :-). The Bleu is not too light, so no 'trout belly' :-). I'll remember that one... To be honnest I think that black kites are ugly, and once in the air you can not ...

Re: black kites

I was told once that there's no coating on a yarn basis, because that makes the weave very loose. Coating is on cloth basis. What's up with that? Sure there is! Fiber coating works best, but is naturally the most expensive one. Then come yarn coating and fabric coating being the most common and cos...

Re: black kites

Thanks nixmatters for these details. I sometime use a nanocoating (SealNGlide) for water reperlancy ; and the manufacturer also claim that it adds a UV protection on boat sails . Do you feel ths UV protection could actually be significant ? Coating is very very light (hardly measurable, less than 2...

Re: black kites

90% BS I would say, especially in the part of bleaching, which with off-white raw polyester (not yellowish) is done with optical brighteners that do not harm the yarn mechanical properties like chlorine bleaching of cotton. A statement that a black fabric would resist UV exposure better than exactly...

I think by New Years we will all be over it. Tits and beer please.
If someone designed a kite with tits on it I'd almost definitely buy it.

Does it have to be with 3... one on each strut, so it's only definitely?
