Re: take off speed

High AR wings are a lot more pitch sensitive, and if you push too hard with your rear foot at too low speed, they will stall over the entire or most of the wing, without warning, and it feels like an elevator where the cable snaps :naughty: 8) PF exactly that "elevator cable snap" feeling on smalle...

Re: take off speed

... 8) PF Thanks! My experience is that with high area / low aspect (MHL 2013) wings the stall speed is very low, so at first kite dive I'm up and foiling. When I demoed the Slingshot Hoverglide and rode the Ghost Whisper I felt I'm rather deflecting (thank you for the word!) before I gain more spe...

Re: take off speed

the speed point between "reflection lift" and "glide lift" - I guess it's called a stall speed and is defined by Re number, right?
What's the best term of above-zero < pre-stall < foiling speed?

take off speed

relevant to the discussion about hydrofoil lowend I wonder about couple of things. I guess the area matters the most, the AR matters and the profile depth/shape matters. I'm omitting fluid viscosity and avoid mentioning Re number since it's not easy to find it out for various wings on the market. So...

Re: Is the twintip a dying breed?

I'm pretty sure foils are eating away from the market share, and at the pace they grow they will eat up more. But what does it matter to board makers - in addition to TTs they will be making foil decks, wings, fuselages and masts too. The more the merrier.

Re: Alloy versus Carbon masts

Speaking of the "same section" the statement is really hard to apply since alloy mast has complex section and I heard carbon masts have a non-carbon core. They gotta learn how to make lighter alloy masts. Screw the aluminum, magnesium alloy or titanium could be significantly lighter. Remembering F2A...

Re: SS Rally 2017 11m - anyone tested it and what's the verdict, please?

Thanks very much! And just before pushing the buy button, how do you find the bar pressure and steering forces needed, please? Bar pressure is medium. Certainly not light (like on Best TS, or Ozone Catalyst), but not wearing you out. You can freeride foil with one hand on it at a time all session l...

Re: Chicken Loop Bye Bye?

I only hope that guys at Cabrinha/Slingshot/Ozone/North/Flysurfer follow this thread and are designing their commercially made "bye-bye chickenloop"
Short. Reliable. Sliding on the harness rope. Optionally attachable to a harness hook.

Awesome, thanks very much for the feedback mate! You are pretty much the only one having this particular size so I truly value your input :thumb: One quick thing though; some say the 10m and smaller got renewed in 2017 from 2016, but the bigger sizes were unchanged. And reading some of the reviews ...

Re: SS Rally 2017 11m - anyone tested it and what's the verdict, please?

Thanks guys, I weigh 175lbs / 79kg. I considered Turbine, but then read that it really pulls you when the wind picks up just a bit and with strapless surfboard that's not much fun, hence the Rally which I believed to have a better depower? 12m Rally was in Gleiten.TV's review mentioned to be able t...
