Re: Slingshot Rally vs. Turbine

Laying flat on ground both 9m Turbine and 10m Rally 2012 are the same area. Bottom line question -what are those kites true sizes and which one is off

Re: Slingshot Rally vs. Turbine

I laid my 9m Turbine 2017 under and over 10m Rally 2012 and to my surprise both look to have the same area. The Turbine being higher AR is slightly longer. The Rally is slightly wider. But just by a little bit. Bot of them laying over 11m Rally 2017 look same size with about 2 sq.m difference down f...

Re: Sea conditions you'd give up foiling and oppt TT or surfboard

Several possible conditions (or their combination) for me to switch to TT Snip... - wind under 7 knots - when kite wants some of attention to keep flying and I'd rather have my feet in my Flydoor XL straps Why ? Not sure I understand above  Unless there is something not said (written), like y...

Re: Line length question/observation

Peter Lynn ARC claims that every 3m of lines equal to 1 sq.m. "increase" in kite size. From personal experience it is not that exact but there are significant effects of longer lines: - longer lines allow you to get a longer stroke therefore more pull especially at initial dive. That in lowend condi...

Re: Foiling sound side in Hatteras - yes you can!

I had trouble finding anyone talking about being able to foil on the sound before this year's trip I've been foiling the heck out of the sound side from the shipwreck in Rodanthe to Real, and from Real to the most northern duck blind in Rodanthe. MHL Lift, 35" mast. Just great. Simply walk out to w...

Re: Advice for buying 1st Foil Kite

Hi all, Im thinking of buying a foil kite, but have no clue where to start. Was hoping some of you could educate me a bit. Im an advanced rider who enjoys jumping 25ft plus. I weigh about 190lb and looking to get rid of my 15M LEI for light wind and exchange it for a foil. 1st question: If I’m look...

Re: Sea conditions you'd give up foiling and oppt TT or surfboard

Several possible conditions (or their combination) for me to switch to TT - a shallow, 2"-3' deep spot - a perfect boosting slick/flat or channels - a strong desire and good company for jumps/tricks/downwinder session - wind under 7 knots - when kite wants some of attention to keep flying and I'd ra...

Re: First fatal accident in our local beginner Bay Area beach

Not sure if that's what the original post meant but video is about anchor launch and while I'd still debate necessity and effect, it's not the "unhooked launch holding on a chickenloop" Usually I manage to get a ride while anchor launch guys and girls screw around. Well it's their choice, my time is...

Re: First fatal accident in our local beginner Bay Area beach

From one perspective unhooked launch if practiced en masse would increase number of kites sold but then as newbies kill themselves out and kiting gets banned on beaches the numbers would go down again. Maybe...and don't judge me harshly for suggestion of guys actually learning, taking lessons, watch...

Re: First fatal accident in our local beginner Bay Area beach

Other than unhooked launch guys used to hold the kiter back. Same prehistoric technique as wrist leashes. A modern kite which depowers properly will just sit on the ear and not fly without pressure applied to the bar. It's safer to be hooked in to solve a deathloop than being unhooked, having your k...
