Re: Why is wingfoiling so popular?

My question though is what is the goal of the progression you are striving for? Want to ride waves at Chicama, I get it, but mowing the lawn on a wing foil is hardly progress. Just like in kiteboarding where overwhelming majority is mowing the lawn and hopping 7 feet, right? Then there are tricks w...

Re: Why is wingfoiling so popular?

One of the problems of being an experienced kitefoiler - the foam pad on the board dries up in the sun during the session and becomes slippery being dry. I certainly don’t have this problem winging :) One unpopular reason of “staying dry” which I remind myself is that I don’t try anything new or I d...

Re: No. 1 Mistake Kiters Make when Launching

@ grigorib Have you ever had someone ( unknown kiter ) walk to you and offer to launch you ? If you say I'm good thank you for offering... they get kind of upset and say : you know when someone offers to launch you ...you should accept and not turn it down Your thoughts ? I’m glad to accept an offe...

Re: Why is wingfoiling so popular?

Like in any foiling it’s crucial to keep vector of rider weight/pressure applied perpendicular to the board - in same plane as the mast.
Twisting the board backwards and falling towards the wing is no fun.

Re: Chicken Loop & Fireball - Harness Modification

Would modular/optional Cabrimha work for that bar?

Re: No. 1 Mistake Kiters Make when Launching

and: throwing the kite into the wind and up...instead of just letting go without any power impact, just open your hands and that's it. I pucked up a funny yo-yo way to launch - instead of opening your palms and letting kite fly, you throw/push it back/downwind like a ball so it does a yo-yo move an...

Re: No. 1 Mistake Kiters Make when Launching

Sometimes the rider starts pulling on the bar which results in same effect. If I’m limited on launching space on land I indicate to rider the direction they should move to as they walk out and tensioning the lines. It helps both - a smooth launch/landing feels good. Other mistakes people do launchin...

Re: Why is wingfoiling so popular?

Let’s not forget reincarnation on windsurfing where adding a foil allows riding 90 liters board and 3.2 sail in 25 knots. It looks awesome and older generation loves coming back to what they once knew.

Re: Why is wingfoiling so popular?

… There's also a chance I don't like the wing as I'm a 20 year windsurfer, which makes me look at big boards and wings in horror, remembering the endless hauling of gear, trailers for my windsurfs, masts and sails. … My 88 liters board is 5’2” and a 50 lbs bag fits board/fool/wings just fine. I put...

Re: Base plate standards today?

Here’s my thread from 2018 when I made an adapter old MHL Lift standard of 5.5x3.375” board to 165x90mm (about 6.5x3.5”) mast https://kiteforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=196&t=2399472&p=1013899&hilit=Mast+plate+Lift#p1013899 The adapter worked great till I found out the plywood plate with t-nuts inside th...
