Re: Near fatality at Hermanus today December 12 2018

Does your face stay over the water with these vests? Turning to your back doesn't help if you drown when your head goes underwater. That's why decent boat rescue vests have the flaps behind your head/neck to keep your face high even when unconscious. Of course not. A vest which would keep your face...

Re: Near fatality at Hermanus today December 12 2018

I'm just wondering why it's commonly acceptable to do do kitesurfing without helmet and impact vest. If you drive a car you buckle up, if you ride motorbike you've helmet, but 99% of expert kitesurfers do it without any protections. So inconsiderate. I’d say an impact/flotation vest is a must anywh...

Re: 2019 Slingshot Turbine

How much do you weight to even use 19m Turbine? This size must be for 300lbs rider or something... We had a huge bodybuilder guy, Tim, on a trip with us few times. At my 200lbs and 6’ I look a small guy next to him. His 14m Switchblade was his regular size and 17m was certainly not enough for him f...

Re: King of the Air 2019 - all info here - riders confirmed

...It should be called the inner circle Kota. Or maybe the megaloop challenge of cape town looking at the choice more given to heavy megaloopers than stylish competitors.. I’m afraid the moment you announce a freestyle competition it would become unhooko-rama in an instance. I think it’s guys’ vlog...

Re: Near fatality at Hermanus today December 12 2018

That’s what KOTA promotes - megaloop as high and as far as you can. Promote caffeinated sugar water, risk your life and inspire others to engage in the same behavior. Very cool way to die? Just remember - if you saved someone from drowning - keep them laying down until ambulance arrives. Heart atta...

Surprised the Rally 14m would fly in less, that's a very heavy kite.
2012 Slingshot Rally 14m 7.8 lbs
2015 Slingshot Turbine 15m 8.8 lbs

I sold mine to my friend who’s 130lbs and it’s his LW kite. I’m just too heavy for it

Re: 2019 Slingshot Turbine

How heavy is bar pressure on big Turbines? Noting bad but I had Pivot rider note that Slingshot bar pressure is heavier than his. Another appropriate question would be - how good the depower is on Turbines and I can tell that you don't want to be overpowered on one, especially on small sizes. They'...

Re: Fatality in France

I don't like raising hands in any way. Just throw the chicken loop away. Change that to unintentional unhooking: http://www.kitehigh.nl/forum/index.php?topic=54463.0 We just had the friend of a deceased Dutch experienced rider post his story of what happened in Brazil a few months ago. In short he ...

Re: Pansh Kite Fans

Thanks for the response. It looks like you have some foil kite experience. I thought that it would be a cheaper way to give it a try. My plan is to mess around with it this year on the snow and if it works out try it on the water in the spring. I was also looking at the Liquid Force Elite - Obvious...
