Re: German online shops, info plz !

Purchased from kite pirates- highly recommended. You can phone them and they speak perfect English. I asked for my shipment to be delayed as I was on holiday- the order was processed with typical German efficiency i.e. perfect execution. They had some great prices and shipped to the UK in 2 days if ...

Re: Advice for a beginner

Haven't used either but the local schools have been using lithiums for the past 3 or 4 years. So I'd say this is the best beginner kite you are likely to get. School kite = super predictable (as much as you're gonna get) and top build quality to survive constant tomahawks in the learning phase. I've...

Re: Your worst kitesurf injury ?

Broke tiny bone under big toe on the first day. Slightly tweaked knee Pulled groin Black and blue from feet soles to arse cheeks getting dragged for 30m over chalk bed- no major injuries. 10 years kiting, all injuries during learning stage. Nothing for a good few years now thankfully. Learning in wa...

Re: Bridle tuning advice

Long time Best kahoona rider here, spent years on super slack back lines. I upgraded the bar and wow- what a difference! I was using an 09 bar and always had slack lines no matter the depower setting. I tried a 2013 bar and had the opposite. Constant pull, taught steering lines and a big fight to st...

Re: What unit do you use for windspeed ?

Knots but if my forecast website looks a little low I might convert it to kph for optimism. Out on the water I only use the water. If it goes ripply it's picked up nicely, if it's tearing spray it's probably time to down size from the 12m. After a fast run it often feels like there's no wind at all ...

Re: Europe with kids?

Akyaka turkey was good with the small kids. Public beach a little small and not so beautiful. Locals absolutely fantastic with the kids however. Kiting conditions 10/10 but family stuff only 6/10. Food, locals also top marks.

Re: Kite Refresh Advice Request

At 95kg I'd say a decent 11/12m would suit you if it regularly blows 20knts. Grab a new bar too as the latest ones have loads more depower on the bungee/cleat systems and make a world of difference. Used kite (2-3 years old) and a new bar would be a great combo.look for the beginner/freeride kites a...

Re: 5/3 steamer recommendations

Mine was custom fit. There's definitely a difference between ordinary surfing and kiting. I think surfers suits allow more shoulder rotation for padling so you get this back for warmth. The groin area is similar as both sports have similar stance, again they may give you more material as there's the...

Big Congrats! Good to hear your confident, point-to-point will only be a few sessions away. then you need to unlearn all these reflexes in a session or two and jump More tips for you now: one handed bar control is great when its not gusting +10/15knt. If you have a steady wind and steady speed try r...

Re: Which kite manufacturer's kites have the highest quality/are most durable

My early kites were much thinner fabrics. I have a V2 and v5 best kahoona. The V2 is a whole lot easier when the wind drops although it has been repaired twice. I expect the v5 would take more of a beating but I mostly keep it up in the air anyway now. The v5 with D2 ripstop and more material and th...
