Re: Casualty in Sicily

I don't think it's a safe sport at all, I think it's a million times safer than it was when it started...and I think with proper training and focus on all aspects of the sport (i.e weather, knowing what a squall looks like and what to do when you see one) then the sport could be comparable with say ...

Re: Is my instructor bias regarding buying gear?

I use a site called Riggeek for a very general kite size guide, it uses pretty much the same formula you'd find anywhere. For you, around that wind range it says a quiver containing: 12 m2 Min:7.9 kt Recommended: 11.8 kt Max: 15.7 kt 9 m2 Min: 10.5 kt Recommended: 15.7 kt Max: 20.9 kt My personal ex...

Re: GoPro Head strap

I've always worn a headstrap with my old GoPro Hero 3. It looks dorky but I never liked the view from a chest mount and can't imagine riding around with a GoPro mounted to a device that I chomp on (mouth mounts). Here's one of my videos with all footage taken while wearing a headstrap: https://yout...

Re: GoPro Head strap

I used it too...and used a line attached to the strap and around my neck. Not the best setup, but worked. Attaching it to the zipper should be the better bet...if you have a wetsuit, which I didn't. If you use a helmet, you can attach it with a short leash to the helmet. I have a helmet but I don't...

Re: GoPro Head strap

Does anyone have any experience with the headstrap for a Go Pro? I obviously HAVE to capture all my mediocre attempts at tricks to try and impress my social media "friends" and I've done the chest mount. I fear a head strap is going to pop off when I wipe out (despite my oversized head) Comes off e...

Re: What a wind Forcast----Hurricane Florence

Maybe a 1cm kite? Good luck, stay safe. We caught the tail end of a cat 1 hurricane last year, I was down at the beach just taking it in and a guy was trying to kite it, I think he was on a 5m and massively overpowered. He ended up being dragged down the beach after ejecting as the kite wouldn't la...

I don't like launching depowered, I feel I have much less control as the steering lines are saggy.

Re: First strapless ride on a surfboard - Diagnosis?

It's likely you are edging the board similar to the way you ride a TT. It has more rocker and more surface area, so more drag when used as a TT. It has to be ridden like a surfboard. Rider is more upright and not as bent at the hips. The board is much flatter on the water. It will plane up earlier ...
