Re: First flatwater experience!

At times wind conditions are right for kiting on the leeward side of a causeway at my home spot. With the wind at 20 knots and a narrow board, the speed runs are incredible and you can hold an edge better in the flat water for spectacular boosting. Motorists stop along the causeway to watch the acti...

Re: PSA: CHECK YOUR HARNESS - Friend of mine got luck, really lucky

Had the same problem years ago with an old harness. If the strap goes into the buckle at the same place every time you tighten it, it will eventually eat through it. I caught it prior to failure and doubled it over and sewed the strap so it would wear at another spot on the strap. Hope your friend h...

Re: OBX nasty water warning

Have the same problem at Sunset Beach in Tarpon Springs. A couple of friends got nasty infections from cuts. The bacterial count goes up with the rainfall runoff. I usually consult the Florida Healthy Beaches website but it only tracks enterococcus and every 2 weeks, more often if the count is high....

Re: Why is everyone hating on old kites ?

My 9m Yarga is 2007(doesn't get that much use), my 14m Nemesis is 2009 (I reglued all the valves), my 11m and 16m xbows are 2010 and my 21m Flysurfer is 2016. I love flying all except the Yarga because it is so twitchy. I will probably retire it soon. If you take care of your gear it will last if yo...

Auto/truck seat covers

I'm looking for feedback on what are the best fitting waterproof seat covers that you use. I'm considering Wet Okole and Caltrend. Are there any others? Any advice on fit and function will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!

Re: 2010 Cabrinha Bar Centerline Sleeve Cracked/Broken

I'm glad you found what you needed. I have not yet figured out how to remove the plastic sleeve on my Cabrinha bar. I think it is sewn into the centerline at both ends, so I may just have to cut the stitching at both ends and it will hopefully slide off. Once I get it off I will see if there is a sl...

Re: Hurricane Michael

I have seen the devastating effects of hurricanes having lived in Florida practically my whole life. Indeed the devastation is great but the loss of life is the most heart wrenching. Our prayers go out to those affected and to the first responders as well. On a side note, I will never forget what I ...

Re: Is anyone else buying carbon credits to offset CO2 from travel?

I think I will jump into the fray here. Imagine how a coal plant operates. Build the frigin thing and maintain it, stuff it full of fuel and burn the hell out of it, then you need more. Go mining. Stuff it full of fuel. Oh dang we need more already, ..go mine it... And these are no puny mines. Whole...

Re: 2010 Cabrinha Bar Centerline Sleeve Cracked/Broken

I appreciate the information, but a new bar is out of the question for me. Cost prohibitive as a new Cabrinha bar is going to run at least $400 or more. And last years bars are only about $100 cheaper. Before I pay that, I will replace the CL and IDS line or will build a new bar myself. There is a l...

Re: 2010 Cabrinha Bar Centerline Sleeve Cracked/Broken

Thanks for the feedback! Although the bar is old, it doesn't get a lot of use. And when it is used it is thoroughly rinsed with fresh water (I spray water through the plastic sleeve to rinse out any salt, sand). But I will remove the sleeve to check the centerline and the IDS line to make sure they ...
