Ride Engine Safety Concern

Ride Engine Safety Concern Dear ride engine designers, there is one particular safety concern that prevents me from buying a ride engine harness. On both sides of your spreader bars you have hooks that are used to attach the spreader bar to the rest of the harness. Unfortunately, the orientation of ...

Re: Let’s Make Kitesurfing Safer… There is an Easy and Effective Way!

Hi guys, I think some of you actually miss the point I’m trying to make. It is not about demanding a better training during courses. I think this will not change easily because mainly the owners of kite schools have an influence on the contents of their courses. Their main goal is to earn money and ...

Re: Let’s Make Kitesurfing Safer… There is an Easy and Effective Way!

good write up! Missing one thing: check if the rider and his gear suits the conditions and it will be safe enough to launch him, or rather talk to him to find out more about his level, and if you think it is too risky, talk openly about it. Maybe get more people involved to help you. Thanks Toby, I...

Let’s Make Kitesurfing Safer… There is an Easy and Effective Way!

I think we can all agree that most serious accidents in kiting can be avoided if more beginner kitesurfers knew how to properly launch a kite. Unfortunately, a lot of beginner kitesurfers, even after successfully completing a beginner’s course, have not internalised the launch procedure. It is just ...

Re: Escape From Glass Window Bridge - A Kiting Sea Story

I know that you have manoeuvred yourself into a very serious situation. Can you explain why you decided to release the kite? I think I would have tried to keep the kite flying because it gives me manoeuvrability, stability and the possibility to give me extra lift and help me climb the rocks. I gues...

Re: Kiting ban in Saudi Arabia

https://www.quora.com/Is-kite-flying-prohibited-in-islam 1. It should not distract one from remembering Allah and praying 2. It should not distract one from doing some essential duty 3. It should not involve extravagance, because that is blameworthy 4. It should not involve any haraam betting betwe...

Re: Tip: 2 Riders in the Same Direction

Avoid kiting behind someone else all together. I also hate it if someone is kiting behind me and a cannot jibe because of this.

Re: Kite front stalling?

1. This is called "Frontstall" 2. This mostly happens in light wind 3. This mostly happens to beginner kitesurfers who sheet out completely 4. This is easily avoided if you always pay attention what your kite is doing and only sheet out as far as necessary. Most of the time when you sheet in about 1...

Re: Serious crash

Apparently, this can also happen with a classical push-away quick release. On another forum somebody reported of something similar happening with a north bar. I think this most likely happens when the mechanism used to retain the push-away quick release is defect. On one of my slingshot bars I obser...
