Re: Large compact wings for surfimg on a hydrofoil

Oversized doesn’t gain you anything. It just makes you slow. [/quote] I have to disagree with this. I demo'ed a Slingshot Infinity 76 surf foil and found it to be wonderful to kite with. It has a stated wind range of 8 - 22kts. On the day I tried it I had winds of 12 - 15kt and my 6m kite was plenty...

Re: Best foil to use it Strapless?

I would say just choose the foil you want to ride and go for it. I learnt to foil strapless from the start and in 1.5 years I've tried maybe 6 free ride foils. They all felt fine strapless. I currently ride the original Slingshot Hoverglide with the H5 wing. Probably the heaviest foil on the market ...

Re: Neil Pryde Glide Reports/Reviews?

I haven't ridden this foil but my friend demo'ed one about 3 weeks ago. He is a beginner/intermediate foiler and currently rides a Zeeko Carver wing. He really liked the foil as well and was comfortable on it almost from the get go. Plenty of lift and stable were his comments. He caught his first wa...

Re: Foil kites on shorter lines

Heh Duke, Welcome to a new challenge:) Btw, I just built my 2nd bar today for foiling. Super thin lines :) kidding :) would love to see your HL tho. But, strongly recommend using your sb a first few times. If it goes down, you will swim. If it goes down, it will take water, and if not drained well ...

Re: Foil kites on shorter lines

Thanks everyone for the great info. I'm not going to rush out and by shorter lines any time soon. I was just curious as to the benefits of shorter lines. I'll stick to my 22m lines for now.

Foil kites on shorter lines

Apologies if this has already been asked before. I'm about to get my Ozone Hyperlink tomorrow :D and this will be my first foil kite. I noticed that a number of riders, like Frank Rosin, are using short lines with foil kites. Could someone please explain the benefits of shorter lines? I'm assuming i...

Re: Nailed some tacks today, feels great!

Thanks for the advice and inspiration. I will start to work on my tacks tomorrow when I go out. I have a trainer kite so will practice on land with that as well.

Re: Nailed some tacks today, feels great!

Good job - I'm envious. I'm 12 months into foiling now and can gybe on the fly with ease including flying stance changes. However, I've been procrastinating on learning to do tacks. I want to start with tacking to toe side and 360s, but I really don't know where to begin. The few I've attempted wher...
