Re: quad vs two fins?

I'm a big fan of twinnies for both kiting and surfing. IMHO, with kiting compared to surfing you require so much less drive off the fins to generate your speed down the line, you can get by with a looser fin setup as long as you have enough fin area to avoid blowing out the bottom turn. I use MR-TF...

Re: Foiled behind a boat today!

i felt that foiling behind a boat is much harder than behind a kite or on a wave.

One of the key aspects is not to get on the foil until you want to, ride really far forward and then slowly inch back and lift up a few inches, then a foot and try and ride there for a bit.

Re: light wind surfboard vs foil board

Mowing the lawn blows....except on a foil! Ditch the surfboard in lightwind and get a foil, you will be stoked for 10-15knots

Re: Jackson Hole / snowkiting

I've skied almost every mountain in north america and Jackson is the best for advanced terrain, hands down. Get there early and get in line for the tram at 6am if it's a powder day, then lap the gondola.

Never snowkited there but there's lots of awesome terrain so i'm sure it's good

Re: Southeast Florida and Keys kite road trip

I have some GoPro, will put together a video with time.

Boca was the launch north of spanish river, there was two other guys out. We also paddle surfed red reef and south beach.

Strangely the best/biggest surf was down at Dania pier.

Southeast Florida and Keys kite road trip

Just spent the last two weeks traveling south east Florida and kiting, only didn't ride two days, tons of wind. Brought a 12m, twin tip, hydrofoil, and surfboard. Perfect setup to ride from 10-25knots. Spots: Boca - tight beach launch, fun waves, beautiful waters. Dania Beach - tight beach launch, g...

Re: at 57°F (14°C) water temperature you would choose 5/4 or 4/3 wetsuit?

Depends on the risk of a long swim. I kite in side-onshore surf and shallow sound waters so minimal swim risk. I kite comfortably ALL YEAR in NJ, including two weeks ago (35* air, 35* water), and in super cold I wear: 3/2 ripcurl flashbomb zipperless (best wetsuit ever) 5 mm billabong booties 5/3 ri...

Re: How old is your oldest kite you still ride on?

My only kite is a 2012 airush varial x 12m. It is fun from 8knots to 25knots. My home beach is pretty much always >10 knots and <30 knots so this does the trick. Great kite, good boost, very responsive and fantastic for waves, flies very well and doesn't fall out of the sky until <8knots which is pr...

Re: kitesurfing in North Miami on Saturday?

I plan on kiting north Miami on THIS Saturday (bumping this old thread), does anyone have any additional info on Meade street or Dania beach pier area? Any difference in wave quality and/or crowd on beach? Where do you recommend? I am advanced rider. I will be at a conference in Hollywood and planni...
