Re: Blowing 11mph Gusting 30mph

Default conditions here. I rig up a 9 or 12, large twin tip and stop in the lulls and hold on tight in the peak gusts.

Re: North bag zips complete sh*t!

Instead of oil, use vinegar... trrrust me, :naughty: Fe(OH)3 + 3CH3CO2H -> Fe(CH3CO2)3 + 3H2O This would be great if zips were steel. They're generally Al alloys and their corrosion is made worse with weak acids that you find in the house such as vinegar. It's Al2O3, the white powder. You want to u...

Re: Kite designers, don't do this s**t please

2 years use? Seems pretty reasonable for it to start getting tatty, but given their prices I'd say that's the problem. Back in the day when a bar and lines was no more than £150 new that wouldn't be an issue, but these days when bars are huge amounts people expect a bit more I guess.

Re: Looping tips

Another way to get your brain to allow you to pull the trigger is just to go into shallow water with no board and have at it. Its fun. Teach your brain how to unwind the lines as well...something that my pea brain always got backward. This. It's a piece of cake when you realise you don't die from i...

just one little thing needs to break...just insane.
That's the sort of thing you can't think about. Because the same applies to rock climbing, bungee jumping, driving a car on the highway, parachute jumps etc etc. We'd never do anything if we honestly assessed all the risks all the time. :D

Re: Who calls LEIs vertical structural elements "masts"?

Would have thought they come closer to being battens in sailing terms, they do exactly the job of a batten.

Re: How to Self Launch Using Your Car

You guys must have some serious depower and super stable kites, pretty sure if I tied any of mine to my car in a usable windrange it'd do something stupid and rip the bumper off. I also really don't like the idea of a solidly tied kite without control, if it swept across the horizon it would do mega...

Re: Extruded Aluminium hydrofoils

Don't worry, in the UK we find shipping from the US to the UK outrageous too!

I found these a while ago and to be honest I was considering using it as mast.

Re: Any of you hydrofoil freaks doing distance runs?

BTW. Sometimes I call friends to discuss daily matters on the long downwind legs. They believe I am sitting at home aand are rather surprised to hear: "Mate, wait a second. I need to jibe" Funny, but I can't imagine anything worse. The whole point of surfing, for me, is to get away from work/life/p...
