Re: Board size advice

Fully agree with Rob. Too small severely restricts you (as a beginner). Too big isn't really that much of a problem (at least not for a beginner). I don't really know why, but as Rob mentioned earlier smaller is for some reason seen as better. Even among kiters that are taking their first lessons I ...

Re: Emirates to Cape Town

It seems to me like they have changed the rules a bit since I flew with Emirates. Before it was super easy if you stayed below 30kg (overweight was ridiculously expensive). I didn't have to tell anyone. Checked it in. Was asked to go to the special luggage counter (in Europe - not Africa) and everyt...

Re: Santa Veronica Colombia

At least one missing I believe. Manzanillo del Mar is a kite spot as far as I know?

Would be cool to hear from locals how the conditions are throughout the season. And if Colombia is hit by the weaker winter winds the same way Cabarete seem to be.

Re: Ambitious kiter looking for a two-kite-quiver

If you are not sure and you can get a good deal on Pure that sounds perfect to me. I have never ridden any of them so can't comment on it specifically. What you most often find asking these kind of questions is that people tend to fall in love with a certain brand - and will therefore recommend tha...

Re: Need advice for beginner - kite size

When people say "difficult" some seem to think that means it is close to impossible for a beginner to use the kite. It is not. But small things do make a difference. Getting just that little bit more power when the wind is weak could be the difference between staying up wind or not (wind range). Sam...

Re: Zanzibar Knots differences

Only been there in January - so I´m not sure if the wind is the same in August (I believe it is weaker in August, but I might be wrong). I was there for about a month. Never used anything smaller than a 12m. Probably 50/50 between 12 and 17. I like riding with a bit of power though and I am a bit he...

Re: old fart round the world tour

Agree with Rakky on Cabarete. Nice place. Crowded at kite beach, but at Bozo you got space. Got a bit of a shore break, but I learned there so nothing too difficult. Zanzibar is good. Just be aware that the season is quite short. Can be combined with Madagascar which is supposed to be amazing. I wou...

Re: Oman Air to Zanzibar - golf bag included in baggage allowance?

I have met people on Zanzibar flying Oman Air via Muscat with their kite equipment. So it is (or at least was) definitely possible. As far as I can see on their homepage (which is quite crap) you can bring "specialist baggage" which is bigger than 158. "Any additional pieces above 20kg or 158cms is ...

Re: true advice on Sri Lanka, a new Brazil?

Anyone got any wind statistics for Mannar? I see it is supposedly good during summer, but how about winter?
