In a few weeks I will have 2 boards that will be exactly the same, apart from one of them will have 3 straps, the other board will have just one back strap, my thinking is the one with a back strap will enable me to steady the board, then easily position my front foot, then repositioning my back foo...

welcome to the "hitting the wall" it took me ages to break through the wall, I was the same as you, getting round then argh splash or flying out of control downwind and then splash. The main thing that worked for me was to keep the kite high as I twist/spin the board round and at the same time throw...

At least one foil school uses a boat to get newbies up and riding for their first attempts at foiling, one is in St Marlo in France.
Steve from St Helens, Merseyside, uses a boat on Carr Mill Dam to have some foil and speed boat fun.
not sure if steve uses this forum.

You Could try https://www.getfyf.com as an alternative. FYI - They get slightly bigger when wet so check sizing. Just wanted to say thanks to all that replied. This is a great thread and helpful crowd! Ended up buying a used T40 with Vorace 97cm mast with the 2017 550/325 combo to learn on. Also got the full 2016 race (HP580/345) wing & stab to play with later on... Will start on that and then possibly comple...
