Re: Wainmann Punch, Boss, and Big Mama: too close to be practical?

As a rule of thumb for a novice, find the kite size you will use the most and go up 3 sq meters and down 2 sq meters. As you get better and change styles you will find what works best for you. I'm not wanting to trap myself into switching kites more than riding, so appreciate the advice. You recomm...

Can you still buy Wainman kites? I looked about a year ago and couldn’t find them.

I bought my Boss used, and will probably do the same for the other kites I add to my first quiver. Was in great shape but had a leaking valve, which I had repaired at a local shop for a pretty reasonable fee.

Wainmann Punch, Boss, and Big Mama: too close to be practical?

I'm building up my first quiver. I started out with a Wainman Boss, a 12M kite. I weigh between 180-190lbs and ride a 145 Cabrinha Tronic. I'm thinking of adding the 10.5M Punch and the 14.5M Big Mama to give me more days on the water.

Are these sizes too close together?

Re: Cabrinha Tronic good twin tip for knee injury?

I'm sort of the opposite here. I like the Tronic, but I like the Mako a lot more. I agree that both of these boards are really good at smoothing out chop and making a more gentle ride for your knees. I think that if that doesn't make enough difference for you, you may be off to strapless surfboard-...

Cabrinha Tronic good twin tip for knee injury?

I have an opportunity to pick up a Cabrinha tronic complete with upgraded foot pads and handle for 33% off. I have a knee injury that has been bothering me for over a year now. It only hurts when the weather changes, but my patella moves around a lot and makes going down stairs a bit treacherous. I ...

The other decision to make is do you want above the bar or below the bar repower/trim. Above the bar is easier unless you have shorter arms. I like my below the bar depower, but it can be hard to depower sometimes.
My arms are pretty long, so I would prefer above the bar trim.

Picking out a good Control Bar

I'm pretty new to the sport, trying to get some of my own gear based on what will give me more days on the water. The local store where I live carries Takoon and Slingshot kites and bars and occasionally gets some other used gear. I recently won a Wainmann Rabit Gang Boss 2.0 off of Ebay. It's in gr...

Re: Advice for a beginner

My weight fluctuates quite a bit, from 175 tob190. Summer winds average 7-15 knots, a bit stronger spring and fall. Windy days aren't too rare.

The Liquid Force Envy also looks like it may be a good option for easy re-launch and durability.

Advice for a beginner

So a quick question (and proof of my inexperience): The company that offers lessons in Daytona Beach has some package deals on their website. The boards are house brand, the kites are Takoon Furia, and the harness is an Epic convertible style (can be used as waist or seat). The control bar is also T...
