Re: 2018 LF Thruster Foil

My first experiences with foils were a couple of sessions on a LF Fish that a friend lend me, and after that I bought a Happy Foil. I paid for it about half of what I would have paid for a North or a Lift, and 30% less of a Cabrinha Double Agent, that were the only other choices I had then. That was...

Re: North Neos for hydrofoiling

Thanks Jasontsai. I actually had considered the Mono as an option. 9 Mono + 7 Neo looked like a good 2 kite quiver. The Mono for foiling, and surfing in very light wind, and the 7 Neo for most days. But the North representative here doesn’t carry Monos, so they are out of the question, making the de...

Re: North Neos for hydrofoiling

Good point. That’s something I thought about, but didn’t want to complicate de question in my original post. Yes. I know the Neo 9 has more power than the Rebel 9, but was expecting that that would give me more light wind possibilities. I weight 70 / 75 kgs (160 pounds), and am using a Liquid Force ...

Re: North Neos for hydrofoiling

This is exactly the kind of informed opinions I was looking for. What a great forum this is!! So it’s decided then. Neos will be my next quiver. Unfortunately there are no waves where I live, so I mostly foil at home and surf when on vacation. I can’t switch from foil to surf and viceversa depending...

North Neos for hydrofoiling

Can anybody please help me shearing his experience with North Neos for hydrofoiling? My kiting right now is about 50% freeride foiling / 40% surf / < 10% TT, and am riding a 2016 Rebel 9 and a 2012 Evo 7. I’m about to replace my quiver, and think Neos may be a good option. I don’t have any doubt abo...

Re: Mast position

For me with a LF Happy Foil: I started with the mast all the way back, and worked fine for the first steps of learning to foil. When I felt comfortable, I moved it to the center, to reduce the back foot pressure. Now I’m trying to learn my foiling gybes and moved the mast all the way forward. In thi...

Re: What is the best alloy mast out there?

I can only talk about the LF masts, that are the ones I’ve used.
I would stay away from the orange one. It fills with water, while the blue one doesn’t.

Re: Gybes while up on the Foil

I learned to kite in 2001, before bidirectional boards were used for kiting. So we had to learn to gibe at the same time we learned to kite. Coming from a windsurfing background, at first I remember trying to switch feet while carving, windsurf style, and it wasn’t easy. But then I read an article i...

Re: Looking for a good hydrofoil setup for traveling on a motorcycle

The Liquid Force Happy Foil is very easy to break down and pack in the bag that comes with it.
At 4’9’’ the board is small, and it can be used without the foil as a regular quad surfboard.
I like better my dedicated surfboard, but it’s not too bad.

Liquid Force Happy Foil

Has anyone tried the LF Happy Foil, and can give an opinion on how it performs? It’s being out for a couple of months now, but I can’t find any review of it. I’ve read lots of reviews of the first generation LF saying that it was slow, the board was heavy, the mast filled with water, etc. Looking at...
