Re: The State of Kiteboarding 2018 - Change Needed

interesting, yes the cost was expensive to start with no i dont mean that by overdevelopment.. in fact wood core twintips are cheaper than foam for example. ( $89US + mould for a 2 dimensional deck) as the price per cubic m is one third. i am really refering to the way that companies try to market a...

The State of Kiteboarding 2018 - Change Needed

The industry has changed kiteboarding for the worse by no longer being an enabler of grass root decision making from the bottom up ( not the top down). Now we have the added situation of World Sailings attempted involvement, a top down situation ( World Sailing the Authority of the GKA), making thin...

Re: Mario and Sol Claim Victory at GKA Air Games Cabarete

" The young Brazilian WKL Champion then came in, grabbed his strapped board and stuck a massive board-off triple front roll in the last minute. Before he and Jesse even left the water, it was pretty clear who’d clinched it." What a bunch of absolute kooks. The GKA are an embarrasment to kiteboarding...

Re: What is the international signal for "Abort launch"?

When you get someone to launch your kite - right up close to them say "whatever happens, absolutely do not let go of my kite unless I say so, hold on tight, thanks!'" If someone looks a bit sketch I even lie and say it's a new bar and lines and it "should" be ok but not totally sure - that way they ...

Re: The GKA Air Games Cabarete Have Lift-off at Day 2

"powered double-handlepasses and a heart attack before heading back to the beach, grabbing his second board and sending some board-offs" That is... completely ridiculous... Swapping from a wakeboard to a footstrapped twintip with a handle mid heat. This will tear the idea apart, I know many wakestyl...

Re: Kite company's are out of their minds

fact is brands generally dont support youth in kiteboarding any more, they target high income /retired older riders. They used to support the youth movement and it thrived. $$$ You can see the change in target marketing if you look at adds from 12+ years ago and compare them to now. entry boards $39...

Re: Kite company's are out of their minds

Blame the industry, they ate themselves alive. Everyone knows kite kit markup is absolutely insane. The industry (gka) decided to dance with the kooks otherwise known as world sailing and paid the price. How are youth supposed to get excited watching GKAs freestyle clown show. There was a time when ...

Re: Kite company's are out of their minds

The average age of a kiteboarder is the oldest it has ever been. Many dumb sellout kiteboarding brands now support the gka that says kiting is sailing, that now put on an absolute embarassment of a freestyle tour on ( in the eyes of youth). I heard mention of clown tricks on a podcast.. i agree.. no...
