Re: High tech super foil

Be frickin awesome to see what happens when you really load it up and it fails. Takes literally ALL the riding out of kiting. Like the ultimate airstyle! How many board spins and flips could you do in a row? Think of it, the endless jesus walk! Get that dude a micro loop! Made out of carbon you say?...

Re: line length for Hfoiling in >15 knots

For free riding the adage about long lines for low end goes double when foiling. A bigger window goes a long way in light wind foiling. Once you can get up and riding without needing to loop, shorter lines do fine. I like 24+ for light air, 21 once there is 13 knots and 17 in anything over 20. Light...

Re: Ride Engine / Hardshell Harnesses loose

Agreed, Used a soft dakine that I would keep loose in order to slide a little and the ride engine is a different story. It's not suited to movement on your body. The lumbar curve shape of the shell and the rigid sides are just not comfy when the harness has room to wander. Feels great when its in pl...

Also if you hf strapless it is plowing, nothing more.
Nothing more? Are you foiling yet?

If farmers plowed their fields in constant carving lines at 25 km/h I suppose you might have a point, but foiling strapless feels more like flying than plowing.

Re: light wind surfboard VS foil board

The thing about doors is that despite being able to go incredibly early, It's always a door! Glassing along.... on a door. They carve.... like a door. The take off and land.... like a door. They surf like a door. A door is just never great. Surfboards are a pretty broad category.... some start early...

Re: light wind surfboard VS foil board

I spent 6 years on an awesome small wave surfboard that makes the best of light conditions. Getting into foiling was literally a revelation. On the right surfboard and large kites, the average kiter can barely ride in 10 knots. Most don't bother. Add current/wash/sweep and it goes up. In simple chop...

Re: Modern wave kite

What you are saying is very different from what Starsky is saying! I was annoyed by the fact that he is inventing a seemingly authoritative or authoritarian history of the kite and blocking discussion of the real issues of performance and safety. Not his fault! They taught him to cheat like that in...

Re: Modern wave kite

Well you seem to have misunderstood my initial post.

I outlined the development of WAVE kites from 2007 to present.

You called it bullshit then reference Britney spears.

didn't meet my expectations of speed and drift that is ideal for wave riding.
I felt the lethargic feeling that Mike dubs was describing from his experience going from Waves to Sections then back to Waves.
