Re: looking for large volume but light board

I love my Camet board. If is great and I'm just learning. I'm not worthy!

Re: HQ kites are a bad joke

I bought a new HQ Hydra 3.5m as a trainer kite. I wish I jd instead spent the money on a used harness, used bar/lines, and used LEI kite, in the smallest size I could find (4-5m). It would have been just as safe to learn, would have transferred skills better (depower, harness), and saved me money wh...

Re: US National Park Service seeking public comments on whether or not to allow kitesurfing

Great news, thanks for the update!

Even if I don't kite cape cod, it's great to set precedent for the USA national parks system!

Re: hydrofoil at max speed limit

Max speed of a kite could be found if only we could find a frictionless, drag-less rider... maybe a guy on ice skates in a speed suit? Or no rider, but an autopilot steering the kite, tethered to a maglev rail? Probably not a true max speed, but a varying max across a range of wind speeds? But back ...

Re: hydrofoil at max speed limit

Sail Rocket used super-cavitating foils to go 65 knots. I don't know of anyone who has made them work on a KBHF. Another limit is ventilation. For instance, Sail Rocket used a "collar" foil around its vertical section(equivalent to a KBHF mast) to prevent the ventilation propagating down the foil. I...

Re: How do you teach foilboarding?

Slingshot Hoverglide and the Flight School graduated masts worked well for me too. However, I'm struggling to move from them to a full mast and carbon foil on a short board, just get thrown off all the time. But the real problem is I'm too cheap to buy my own, so have been using friends, hence not ...

Re: America's Cup 2021, the hydrofoil AC75

I crewed for one day of racing on Columbia. Beautiful boat, and fun teamwork, and tight racing against other 12m class boats of that vintage. Awesome...in my early teens my friend and i built 2 1/2 foot long to scale fiberglass models of 12m class boats and sailed them in the bay at our boating clu...

Re: How do you teach foilboarding?

I'm teaching myself right now. Ten sessions so far. Setup: Slingshot hoverglide w flight school masts, high volume board w tracks for mounting, w 2 front foothooks. I wouldn't change anything about my foil setup for learning. Front foothooks are enough for me to position the board and keep it tilted...

Re: wings for using smallest kite possible

Wing size vs efficincy is one tradeoff. Another is board floatation. A thick, floaty board is nice for transitions, and for that second loop before getting foiling (first loop is to get you up on the board). But, in really marginal conditions it's nice to have a board that sinks deep in the water so...
