Re: Let's talk about short lines.

I have ridden everything from 10 to 100 meters from 7 to 20 meters kite.

jump height on short lines depends on a good gradient.

that's it

Re: Fatality in Long Island, NY

This always comes up in every safety thread but isn't it irrelevent these days as most harnesses have a line that runs around the back you clip to as opposed to a single ring so when you get dragged the leash slides around to the side anyway. Both of mine have it - warrior and pyro. physics says if...

Re: Where do I attach the leash?

you can definitely fly a 2:1 kite on a 1:1 bar but it will be dog slow so I would suggest for a small kite to use the largest bar you own for instance a 55 or 60cm bar even for a little 7m kite. There are some nice features in having such a slow kite in high winds.

Re: What Kite/Bar combo works with Ocean Rodeo Bar

I tried the bar with a Liquid force (old kite, about 2008) and although it flew, it felt like the back lines were far too long even when adjusted to the shortest setting. She just didn't want to turn without a massive amount of movement. sounds like you were using a liquid force kite like the 2007 ...

Re: Warning: North Bar with single line flag out kites

On one line, the bar needs to travel at least half of the length of you LE I agree with everything you said except one thing. You need one full kite length not half. Less than a full kite length and you can have a very dangerous powered kiteloop. This is geometry. Sometimes it might depower but you...

Re: Convert North Quad Bar into single line flag out?

Thanks for clueing me in jedi! I have wanted to get that part for years, and ozone never sold it separately until this year. They must have changed this after they came out with the push release bar. Only $20. http://www.ozonekitesusa.com/proddetail.asp?prod=ozone_trimmer_bracket I think I might buy...

Re: Convert North Quad Bar into single line flag out?

no sleeving ever on these safeties. Sleeving will stick in the safety and cause it to fail. You have to splice everything. The safety line that goes from the chicken loop to the V connector is about 2 or 3 times thicker than a kite line and must be spliced on both ends. You use a lark's head to conn...

Genius. I am tempted to do this to an old fuel I have because I have too many 15's right now.

Re: Convert North Quad Bar into single line flag out?

most single line flags have a hole that is too big for the elastic line to go through but small enough for the kite line to easily pass. If you throw the safety the bar shoots up and the line passes through the hole. ozone (and some other bars) has a special system where the flag out hole is about a...

Re: Convert North Quad Bar into single line flag out?

I think with a swivel and new lines it will be possible, at the end of the day its just the power lines system connected to the safety/cchicken loop in the middle of the bar, I could basically use a lot of different systems for mix and match I guess! Need to keep the Microloop though! Yeah, that's ...
