M8 baseplate with M6 bolts

My F-one board came with M6 T-nuts in the tracks. I just got a new foil and the base plate is designed to work with M8 bolts. The foil came with M8 T-nuts and bolts. Unfortunately, the M8 T-nut is too thick at the base, so won't slide into the tracks of the F-one board. The slots in the foil look to...

Re: Gear for best low end

I saw that interview too. While I have no doubts he has excellent technique and can foil in much less wind than most people, his numbers seem a bit exaggerated. But it does give a hint that, in winging, absolute low-end is much more dependant on tecniche and athleticism than in kiting. Gear is impo...

Re: Gear for best low end

A big Flysurfer foil kite or my friend’s mastercraft x-star. I've got the big flysurfer kite! The problem with pushing the limits of low end with a big flysurfer kite is the inevitable swim in. Also in the summer, our wind is light and the beaches are really crowded. If I could get out in <10...

Re: Gear for best low end

That looks like a good time for such light wind!

Gear for best low end

Interested what gear gets you on foil in the lowest wind. Not interested in brands/models, but looking for size of board, wing, and foil. There seem to be trade offs: -Bigger boards are better, but if they're too long/heavy you can't pump them onto foil -Bigger wings are better, but if they're too b...

Re: gear buying advice

Thanks guys, I was also looking at the Quatro boards. Where did you order the Mantis 6 from? My local shop only has up to 5m. When I called the local shop they claimed that a 5m wing would even work in ~12kt of wind (which is basically the low end of what I want), but I am a little skeptical of tha...

Re: Board suction to water

Some resistance is for sure from actually pushing water out of the way but if you really think that flattened bubbles of air between the board undr surface and thw water have no impact on speed then I'm going to already write you off as a lost cause. Not some, most of the drag at slower planing spe...

Re: Board suction to water

Imagine that you have 5% under the board is flattened bubbles between choppy wave tips, that's close to 5% less drag so you are already going to go faster. 10% air - now it's starting to make quite a difference! Do you really want to turn down that assist in drag reduction ? :) 5% air under your bo...

Re: Any thoughts on AV8 foil/board?

Definitely sounds like a good fit for what you are looking for. I was on a Spotz 2 before I got the Delta foil that the AV8 was based on. I had been trying to learn foiling jibes on the Spotz 2 for a year, but still only landing 1 out of 10. First session on the Delta I was landing most of the foili...

Re: Any thoughts on AV8 foil/board?

Is it a good deal? Its not a top race foil, but it is a nice, stiff, fast foil. Its based on the delta race foil.
