Re: The future of foiling

In terms of application and difficulty to learn, assisted foiling (if by that you mean electric powered?) would be easier to learn and be more universally applicable. But it is expensive to purchase. eg. Downwind foiling. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wzo7WTWKWbs Prone foiling. https://www.youtube...

Re: hook one of 3-line kite to a harness

I have found a picture that shows that the centre line bridle goes to the rear edge of the PL Skim. https://www.plkb.world/uploads/image/60d4902e24c45b0b5ec90000.jpg https://www.plkb.world/kiteboarding/products/foil-kites/skim-tr-powerkite-5ee23cde6af0e664d0059504 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFB...

Re: Walking a single front line - max wind?

Thanks Ronnie. I enjoyed the fun vids. With regard to kite being pinned in my experience they stick better on wet sand rather than dry sand and are less likely to slide in the parked position. All they really showed was that in a wind tunnel at 80mph you can still stand - at about 45 degrees. There...

Re: Wingfoil is building faster than everything

True, but old news. Using a wing on a foil was the gamechanger  But I am pretty amazed that it seems to be an inflatable before a kitewing  Yes - the opportunity was there before 2015. The first 'production' windsurf foil board was from Neil Pryde Maui in 2004. https://www-windsurfi...

Re: Wingfoil is building faster than everything

Maybe just me, but why do you find it so important whether it is inflatable or not? If some used a kitewing on a foil, it was the first wingfoiler IMO. Inflatable simply an evolution, more practical and more lift than a kitewing but less efficiency, but I find it the same principle: You foil using ...

Re: Wingfoil is building faster than everything

Tony in 2011 Kai in 2019 Can we stop giving credit where it isn’t deserved I don't understand your point? There is not one single contributor to wingfoil as I see it. Uli Stanciu and Jim Drake worked on wing prototypes in 1980. In 1981 Roland Le Bail made the Bird Wing in France. Jim Drake made a w...

Re: Wingfoil is building faster than everything

"Wing is slow" 8) https://www.instagram.com/reel/Czg7HJbI68p/?igshid=MTc4MmM1YmI2Ng== Wingfoiling is probably gaining more compared to kitefoiling and windfoiling. It is also seemingly the most popular at the moment. The others are still improving too. Over 42 knots now for windfoiling. https://www...

Re: Wingfoil is building faster than everything

Not sure I understand this .... No matter how many sizes you can choose or not, I don't see that matters. Wingfoil has many advantages compared to kitefoil, but the lowend is the problem. 8) Peter It seems wingfoil racing is similar to windfoil racing - which has been developing over recent years. ...
