Re: Again Fatality in South of France

... ... People die slipping in bath tubs so maybe you should rethink taking a shower every day. And whatever you do - DON"T DRIVE YOUR CAR!!!! 30,000 people die every year in car crashes in the USA. Most all the reply's to my question, (so far) have bin rather well thought-out , and appear to be ge...

Re: Looking for a nice all round kite

Thanks for the great replys, i see the epic's are very much in favour here so far. But things haven't exactly gotten any easier. first off plan on having more then one kite. I understand its not always affordable but one kite will limit your progress and the wind you can get out in. I guess i could...

Re: Again Fatality in South of France

Well Billie, you can't really compare hang gliding and paragliding fatalities to kiteboarding unless you also take into account the number of people involved. I imagine that there are a lot more kiteboarders than there are hang gliders, but I don't know the actual numbers. If you want to rank outdoo...

Re: Ocean Rodeo Go-Joe , or reel leash?

lol dracop , the people knocking a gojoe are the ones who know how to body drag . A simple techinque that should be taught to anyone before giving them a board . No conditions should stop you from body dragging back to your board as long as you are a decent kiter . A gojoe does not allow a rider to...

I have a Liquid Force Kitefish. It was super cheap, tough, and really easy to learn to ride strapless.

Re: Naish Draft vs Naish Pivot

I tried both the 12m Draft and the Pivot. My thoughts mostly coincide with others. The Draft goes upwind like crazy, but the bar pressure is heavy and it turns slow. Didn't get a real feel for the jumping in that one ride because the wind was fairly low. The Pivot was much nicer - it turned faster a...

Re: So why are C-Kites discontinued?

One more drawback to C kites that I have heard - they can be really hard to relaunch. You guys can now argue about whether or not that is true. (Any of you guys also mountain bikers? This C kite stuff sounds a lot like all the arguments about wheel size. It's happening again right now in mountain bi...

Re: Just bought my first set up...

The other approach to saving money on lessons - fly to Cabarete in the Dominican Republic, where lessons will be like $30/hr. Just go down for a week and you will come back a kiter. Airfares are cheap on Spirit and JetBlue and lodging/food is very cheap there. What?!?!? I doubt that airfare and lod...

Re: Replacing Kite Lines

There was this young dude I knew that got his lines tangled in the rocks and he had to cut them to retrieve the bar. He was a do-it-yourself kind of guy, so he bought some generic kite lines and replaced the lines on his own. It was a Naish bar. I took a look at it later and saw that he had complete...
