Re: Kite boarding with a fused ankle

I have limited mobility in my right ankle (NOT completely fused, though.) I find I am most comfortable riding a directional, strapped. I ride goofy foot (right foot forward) and angled well forward, with my back foot more perpendicular. In this way, the back foot can control the edging and the angle...

Re: Trinidad&Tabago

I don't have any personal experience with Trinidad & Tobago, but I've just got back from kiting in Peru. While I was there, I met a Venezuelan guy, Freddy Vargas, who will be running kite camps in Tobago in January and February. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Kite-Surf-Tobago/471808979545766 I can c...

Re: If you were considering the future of kiteboarding?

I have a new idea about how to make struts. Instead of battens or tubes, what you do is take a bunch of very small diameter tubes, and thread kite line through them put them everyplace you would have air tubes or battens, now tighten the line, maybe use a winch or lever for that final pressure and ...

Inflatable boards – Kitesurfing equipment is already relatively transport friendly. (Ever tried travelling with windsurfing gear?) But the board is still a little problematic. I know some brands have two piece boards, which is an interesting concept. I wonder how viable inflatable boards are. My exp...

Re: Naish mid-season catalog reveals no-strut kite!

So Naish is marketing their strutless kite as a travel kite? Are they implying that the performance suffers? The Cloud seems to have a few fans for its performance as much as its simplicity. The smaller pack down seems to be a secondary benefit, rather than the main objective. Whereas, reading the p...

Re: Strutless kite in development on Maui

I hope you’ve got yourself a good patent! Much as I hate the way patents are abused by multi-nationals, it’d be nice to think that you’d be getting something out of this for years to come. In the short term, I think you’re going to be selling these things as fast as you can make them. But once the b...

Have any of you tried telltales to determine the optimum AoA?
