Re: Board flips (Bad handle?)

the crab rails are meant for skateboards or snowboards, not twintips. Pretty hard to catch. Big rails are easy to catch. I think once you do a boast and get the board off the board flip should be the easiest thing in the world. Why waste a good jump by making your grab rail so hard to catch, just ma...

Re: Board flips (Bad handle?)

Exactly like edt's, except shorter - to whatever length the biggest cheap flipflop you can find is. Mine is only about 32-33cm long, but long enough. The harder/denser you can find, the better. Cost me about $4 to 4 different boards. More if I wanted some shorter ones. the only reason you need them...

Re: Board flips (Bad handle?)

spins you do by grabbing the fin by the nose or tail. It's not the same as the handle spin, but some things are easier something are harder or impossible. Personally I don't like doing handle spins but if you do them you need a handle and a long one is best of course. Less likely to smash your finge...

Re: Board flips (Bad handle?)

I use a 1 inch foam rail. It's huge and I think it's even easier than a tall handle. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53283150006_39cf962563_z.jpg You can catch the board anywhere between the footstraps, so you have about 2 feet or 60cm of rail where you can catch it. Make board flips so much eas...

Re: Board flips (Bad handle?)

The Duotone handle is bad. I can’t understand why they put these on the boards while Boardoffs are the thing to do! Get a higher handle, will make life easier, and much safer for your fingers! Agree. in the videos a taller handle isn't really noticed, what matters more is your steeze. It's hard to ...

Re: Is it possible to travel downwind faster than the wind?

the original poster wanted more to know like should you be nearly straight downwind or should you be closer to a broad reach to go faster than the wind VMG direct downwind and the answer is you have to look at the polar diagram every kite, wing, and sailboat is different. Sometimes you should be poi...

This thread leads us to the classic, but for many not easy to understand, almost mythical phenomenon:

If you have a dead calm day, zero wind on land.

Re: Is it possible to travel downwind faster than the wind?

first you need to generate a polar diagram for your particular craft then you need to take it out in all kinds of different wind speeds and directions this might take a while. There are apps which are specifically made for this so you don't have to plot it out with paper and pencil just turn on the ...

Re: Beach anchors - any recommendations?

having a fusible link is good. just my opinion. I have seen entire cars or trucks lifted and thrown, a double picnic table lifted and thrown. When a kite loops and is tethered you will see 1 ton maybe 2 tons of force generated. Something is going to break. Having the sand give way at less than maxim...
