Ditto. I suck doing higher jumps on my weak side but can do jump transitions and front rolls going weak side. Im thinking it has to do with getting my body in position to land. Ive pretty much given up on trying to boost high going that way.

Been riding on Hatteras for the last couple of days. All clear.

Yes they can be in the sound. Dont know of any encounters with kiters but theres always a first time.

One of the reasons I like kiting is I found I dont need a trailer to haul my gear around. And i dont mind the 'smell' of the beach and sand. Now foul wetsuits thats another matter.

The JohnO is not the same construction as the Freestyle Wave. Its def has more volume and will not stand the abuse of jumping nearly as well either. Though i havent seen the JohnO i have many Amundson boards including the Freestyle Wave. He will give you any fin config you desire also.
