Re: Check this monster out about to hit!

WOW, photos would indeed be most appreciated. Especially if you are kitesurfing raglan. On a foil. ;-)

Re: Ride Engine Wetsuits - retailers who ship to Canada

I think the deal with USA retailers is that cross border shipping is more expensive (so screws up free shipping deals), it is uncertain (may or may not get slapped with broker fees), there are extra taxes involved, and returns are a problem. It all adds up to a big hassle for them, especially when f...

Re: Ride Engine Wetsuits - retailers who ship to Canada

If you are close enough to USA to do a pickup....then you could buy on Amazon, paying by cc or paypal, then ship to receiving house. I assume they have those services at border towns there -- out west, they have them in Blaine and Pt Roberts, costs $3-5 to hold a parcel for pick up.

Re: Foiling...the next big thing?

Remember when everyone thought snowboarding was the coolest thing on snow and skiing was dead. Guess what , skiing is back in a big way and snowboarding is fading.. skiing adopted snowboard technology that made it more accessible and fun....wide skis so intermediates could ride powder, twin tips so...

Re: Foiling...the next big thing?

Once you know how to ride and transition on a foil, IMO, no reason to ride anything else. That's maybe true if your goal is to be out there cruising back and forth, exploring geography, or racing. If you are interested in carving waves, bump n jump, or wakestyle spinny jumping and terrain parks, th...

Re: Foiling...the next big thing?

Funny thing is ... foiling has been around in kiting for more than 10 years. Started around the time Laird H was experimenting with tow in kiting with a modified Air Chair, but it remained an obscure side show for years in kiting. I think maybe it took off with the racing community, as the sailing w...

Re: Anyone replace their Ride Engine rope slider yet?

Another suggestion on the DIY threads was to pull the sliding line through some clear rubber tubing, for extra protection. I think this option might work well for the people who directly attach chicken loop to the sliding line. Issue there may be more about wear on your chicken loop (expensive) rath...

Re: Anyone replace their Ride Engine rope slider yet?

Your rope snaps a km offshore and you'll have a long swim ahead. For the buck and for your safety, if not your wasted time, replace it, no question! In the DIY threads, people using steel ring recommend using 2 rings -- spreads the load more evenly on rope, lessens the wear. And I think a good tip: ...

Re: I don't like conventional kiteboarding anymore.

Maybe to bad for you, we still consider the best sessions a 4 board one. TT, Strapless DR, wake skate and KBHF, all are different and fun to progress on IMHO! RH Agreed. Like a garage sale on the beach, foil, mako twintip, paipo, surfboard. Use whatever combination is fun for that given day. This i...
