Re: climate change / unpredictable weather/wind

countries who heeded the scientific advice and locked down early and fast were able to control the spread of the virus. Here's a meta-analysis that supports that point: https://www.thelancet.com/journals/eclinm/article/PIIS2589-5370%2820%2930208-X/fulltext From the Discussion text near the end: "Th...

Re: climate change / unpredictable weather/wind

it is fear mongering and an outright lie, to attribute everything bad to AGW AND imply that it would not have happened if we cut CO2 emissions to zero. Prior to the industrial revolution our CO2 emissions were far lower. Now they're much higher. CO2 emissions increase the capture of heat energy fro...

Re: Hydrofoil low end (~7-11knots)

I wouldn't recommend a foil kite to anybody. That's a choice you should make for yourself after having done your own research and thinking it through for yourself. For most of us, as has been said, a lightweight LEI about 12m should be ample. The advantage of the LEI is simple. It turns faster, and...

Re: waxing kite lines

Why are you guys applying a sticky material to your control system? Wax is basically just very hard glue, and glue+sand = equipment failure, if you don't melt your lines in the process. It's amazing to me what people will try to do in order to avoid conducting proper preventative maintenance on life...

Re: How to remove salt(?) residue (binding) from twintip

This thread is absolutely ridiculous, how is this even real???? Scratches on a kiteboard? You mean that thing you stand on the beach on then drag across the sand into the surf? I mean...what the hell is this?

If your buyer wants a mirror finish, tell them to google "Wet Sanding."

Re: Compressor

Just be careful you don't over-pressurize your kite, the battery powered pumps I've seen for SUPs and stuff all go up to the high teens in pressure and most kites are designed for 8-10psi.

Re: How to slow down the foil

If I put the kite near 11-12 my foil starts to raise from water.. Sheet out to maintain ride height as the kite comes overhead, then when you feel yourself slow suitably, sheet back in to repower the kite and ride slowly with the kite high. The bar is now your ride-height control, out=down/in=up. I...

Re: Off Topic - America's Cup Sailing - Foiled Monohulls

Are they using cyclist on these too, or is that against the rules. These look better than the catamaran on the water, I think they might be slightly saver too. The smaller training boat that torpedoed the other day just kept going. No cycles this year, since NZ won the last one with cycles they kne...

Re: Has a quick go on a J shapes cruiser foil

Nice, J-shapes remind me a lot of the way Delta's are built here in the US, very similar designs. 550 to an 800 with the same kite sounds like a big step up, definitely.

Very cool writeup!
